Light question

I’m underway with my first grow in a 4x2x5 tent. This tent was bundled with one Viparspectra P1000. The light is rated to be capable of flowering a 2x2 area. I immediately bought a second P1000 to fill the other half tent.

My question is if the light is 100 watts, capable of a 2x2 space, therefore a 4x2 space needs two lights. My math says that 2x2 space is 4 sq.ft. for 100 watts or 25 watts/sq. ft. well below the 50 watts/sq.ft. that I see recommended. Am I missing something? Did I make a mistake buying this tent-light combination? My one surviving plant seems to be happy enough in one tent half. I’m a bit confused.

All this newfound growing information is enough to give a guy a mental hernia!

From the website, "Perfect for 2.5’x 2.5’vegetative coverage at 18” and 2’x 2’flowering coverage at 14” height"

Who's recommending 50 watts/sq.ft? No saying thats incorrect but I see a lot of recommendations for 25-30 watts/sq.ft. Plant stretch will determine if your lights are weak.

I’m not sure where I saw that, maybe I didn’t even. I’ve read so much info these last few weeks that I’m bleary eyed. Not to mention that a lot of the info is contradicting.
I guess if my girl looks happy she is happy.

50 watts a sqft I recommend for blurples you can get away with 30 watts a sqft using high end LEDs still knowing that I run 45 watts a sqft in my flower tent. It takes less watts in veg to grow and make them look happy. I only veg under 192 watts in a 3x3 and 165 watts in a 2x2 closet. I flower under 720 watts ( ROI-e720 ) in a 4x4

They say you'll be fine but 20 watts a sqft doesn't matter which light you have that wont cut it for flower. A grower can use however many watts they want I don't mean 20 wont flower but the bud it produces isn't worth the effort or money.

Let me tell you 170 watts per sq ft is amazing, especially when it's only using 160watts with three fans too. Just went to 12 hr and turned on the reds. I plan to move the lights from the tent to the grow room to finish the flower. Start some new with the 2-50 watt full spec purples for the veg

Moving my operations to the pole barn next year. I'm going to go ahead and install a c02 burner.

Tried running c02 in my basement last year .. almost killed myself, but the buds were fuckin amazing. lol
I have an 20kbtu unvented wall furnace for the heat in the house. As long as I'm running the exhaust fan it's AOK. When it gets down to around 0F and no wind though the CO2 gets into the 4k range. I have to fire up the regular furnace.

Man, i wish I could do something like that.. I kinda ruined my chances by almost killing the fam the first time LoL
Mind if I hit you up later on bout burners and such?

Sure. I good CO2 meter is good to have. I have two and the newer one self calibrates but you have to take it outside once a week. POS. The old one just keeps on ticking though the temp and humidity sensor went out.

This is the new one. It does data log it that's important. It isn't there's a cheaper modle. I got mine direct from ChYna. https://www.techgrow.nl/green-eye-co2-meter-and-datalogger.html

Also , if your particular panel has both veg and bloom switches - you should be running BOTH on .

P1000 only has a dimmer.
