i just cut the ones that look like they dont have a chance..but try to leave the others especially during veg, towards the end of flowering you may consider chopping some of the fatter stressed leaves, but your buds should be swelling over those by then so :joint:

This is a very commen misconception. Light disipates very fast. at 3 feet you have 1/6 the lumens. (100,000 lumens @ 3 feet is 16,666 lumens) NEVER cut upper fan leafs to give lower leafs light. If anything remove lower leafs to increase airflow and cool the plant.
Who said anything about plant size? You don't know the structure of my plant so don't talk to me about common misconceptions. If you find yourself removing lower nugs maybe you should change up your grow style or invest in some hemp twine.... tie those ladies down. ;-)

People don't remove lower growth because it makes upper nugs bigger; they do it because that lower growth isn't getting light so there would be little development.

plz don't do it, u'd be suprised to know that the size of lower buds have more to do with the distributioon of auxins throughout the buds during flowering

FDD can back me up on that

FDD trims off half his plants and weeks of veg so I'm not too interested in what he has to say on THIS subject. Love ya FDD! ;-)

People don't remove lower growth because it makes upper nugs bigger;
are you serious with this??? if so, are you saying everyone who lollypops their plants is reducing their yield? I'll have to respectfully disagree.
Its been proven time and time again that removing the lower third of your plants branches will result in a significant increase in size of the remaining bud. not to mention not having to deal with trying to trim fluffy, tiny buds. by all means if you would like to dispute this, i'd love to hear the other side.

No dude, I didn't say that, but I like the way you twist my words when you wanna argue; that's real slick. If there's ever any doubt as to what I have said, feel free to quote me in your reply, or look to see if I have edited my post.

No, it hasn't been proven...... ever.

put cfls at the bottom if your worried about them not getting light, 20 dollars is enough to illuminate your plants netherregions. and trimmin leaves is lame they fall anyways so let your plant do its thing smoke with it daily, and nutes for flowering. the faux has fat cameltoe.

Ahh young grasshopper the bottom leafs are always further away from the light than the top ones, so the light is not as strong as it once was. The less light you have, the smaller your entire plant is.

Grasshopper? You're assuming a horizontal reflector.... and even then, noone's denying it so your comment really doesn't have a place in this thread. All I said was removing the fan leaves that block light to lower fan leaves will help penetration, but you seem to think that's a "common misconception." I understand you're a pot head, but at least show me the courtesy of reading my posts before you reply.

You NEVER remove leafs that are closer to the light to get light to the leafs that are further away.

Lights put out 80% of their light from their largest surface area, the side (horizonal) So lets do the math

horizontal
Lets say you have a 100,000 lumen light (one foot away).
80% direct light and 20% reflected. Reflected light is about 1/2 strength.
At one foot that is 80,000 lumens with 10,000 lumens reflected.
90,000 lumens
Vertical
20% direct light and 80% reflected.
20,000 lumens with 40,000 lumens reflected.
60,000 lumens
So vertical lights reduce your light output by 1/3 or 33%

If you want to give them more light turn your bulb 90 degrees

BARE VERTICAL LAMPS! It's like I said before.....

Well good luck to your with your bare vertical 24w CFL. You are clearly the most experienced grower I have ever met.
