What temperature did you have the oven at?I stopped using the water and butter boil method years ago. I agree it's nasty.
Nowadays I just decarb my herb in a glass jar in the oven, and then mix 1.5g - 4g with 1 stick of melted butter, and then strain it through a mesh or cheese cloth.
Sometimes, edibles aren't for everyone. I experienced the nausea cooking butter as well. Edibles so make me exorcist puke, and some people love em!yeh it’s simmering but damn I feel so sick from the smell.. not nice at all.. nothing like the smell of burning weed. I’ve literally never experienced any edibles in my life so thought I’d just make a tray of brownies for tonight with an ounce and see what happens but it’s just the smell.. I can’t even describe it.. it’s just nothing like a “weed” smell I’ve ever smelt

Next time put the oil or butter in a mason jar full of bud, lid on. Put it in a pot of water and boil it in there for 6 to 8 hours.I don't use MJ in any form, it doesn't really agree with me. However, I'm in the process of slow-cooking some cannabutter to use in cooking for my hubby. I got given around 3.5oz of dry leaf and stem, so thought I'd turn it into something I could use to cook with for hubs. It's been cooking on low for the last few hours and hubs has complained about the smell, so I moved the slow cooker outside. Then I took the lid off to stir it. OMG, I nearly threw up! It smells vile! So, I've had it cooking on high for about 2 hours and low for 3 hours. How much longer do I need to leave it before refrigerating it?
Great advice, thank you. Sadly, by the time I got to read it, it was too late. I only had leaf given to me by a relative, hubs would never part with any of his precious buds as they're rather expensive here in Australia, (not legal, damnit!) so I kinda doubled the green leaf component to make up for it. What I ended up with was a dark green, rather smelly, clarified butter. However, today I softened another 500g of regular butter and blended them both together. Smells and looks much better. Hopefully, it will be effective. Making some cookies tomorrow as a test run and they'll either work or not. Time will tell, LOL! Thanks again for the hint.Next time put the oil or butter in a mason jar full of bud, lid on. Put it in a pot of water and boil it in there for 6 to 8 hours.
No smell and strong butter, no decarbing needed before.
