Watts

I had a question About the watts. When transitioning to flower do the lights need to be at 600 watts or i can put them down to maintain the temperature. Would the buds flurish with the lights at 400 watts each or some watts 600 and some 400 would it be a problem to mix them. Please help

Think less in watts and more in PPFD/μmol and DLI

Overall wattage used is only a small part of the equation, since you're also dealing with distance of plant to light and also the efficacy of the lights you have. Even if you only have a cell phone, there are apps that can help you get a rough idea of what you're supposed to be giving your plants in different stages...and plenty of charts/graphs online for suggested amounts.

could you link a website it you could please
I like the Photone online DLI Calculator, because it tells you if you're too much/too little and how to adjust, and it works by weeks.

Once you get through using the calculator once, it drops you to a page that has this graph, which should also help you.

Some other reading for you.

Depending on who makes them, the manufacturer may have published maps/numbers. Though often some of the numbers are fluffed since not all manufacturers are all that honest/legit. You can either buy a somewhat cheap but decent light meter or you can find a somewhat accurate light app for your phone. The phone apps can vary depending on smartphone camera hardware though. I use the Photone app on my iPhone XS which by all reports is pretty damn accurate, but not all phones are like that.

This is hps, right?

If your space and temperature allows it stick 600w. If too hot or too much light then you can drop to lower levels. Super lumens just adds a few watts more and shortens bulb life. It's a gimmick imo and I never used it.

My question is could i leave some lights on 400 watts and some on 600 would that effect the grow that is the only way for me to maintain the temperature.

I have 12 lights in total any suggestions
Why not just run them all at 600? You'll get better growth and everything. As long as you're able to keep humidity up and temps where they should be you'll be fine. Generally ppfd will increase as wattage increases. With led you're able to get more ppfd at less wattage but you also have to run temps higher and watch your humidity.

My problem is i cant seem to keep the temp down im at roughly 34-35
I had a buddy who keept his at 37-38 and came out with a huge yield but he would give them up to 7 litters of water

from experience, a 600 watt hps will cover a 3 by 3 area pretty well, 12 of them should cover a 10 x 12 area very well....you could probably cover a 12 x 14 and get pretty good results, just turn the ones on the outside edge a 1/4 turn every couple of days...

So would 18 plant (30lt pots) be okay with 12 lights?

I'd like to see what they looked like. Huge yield doesn't mean good. The temp is too high especially without co2. You need at least 24k btu to even try to cool that many lights. You want to be in the 75degree range tbh. Unless you're running co2.

can you fit them into a 12 foot by 12 foot area? probably, but they might be a little crowded, and remember, the ones on the outer edge are going to need to be turned every couple of days or one side will be under developed, will you be able to get to them, or will they be immobilized in a scrog net? if netted, you might want to go with a slightly smaller footprint area, like 11 x 11, to make sure the ones on the outside get sufficient coverage

I will try to get pics but they were big and good looking nugs. Everyone has their own way that works. It just depends on experience and fails to realise how and where you sent wrong

12 x 600W = 7200W, gonna need a lot more than 24k BTu of AC for that.
