can you fit them into a 12 foot by 12 foot area? probably, but they might be a little crowded, and remember, the ones on the outer edge are going to need to be turned every couple of days or one side will be under developed, will you be able to get to them, or will they be immobilized in a scrog net? if netted, you might want to go with a slightly smaller footprint area, like 11 x 11, to make sure the ones on the outside get sufficient coverage
They have more than enough room plus thats why im lst to control the growth and obviously more colas. But definitely will be turning the ones on the end every few days
 
hooha had a good point, 12 600 watt hps are going to produce a lot of heat, extraction fans aren't going to be enough, you're going to need an ac in that room, or you're going to need to run co2, maybe both. you want the surface temp of your leaves to be about 80. under hps, all the radiant heat means you're going to need to maintain the room around 75 degrees...7200 watts produce 24,500 btu.

you would need about 2K worth of mini split ac to deal with that...you might find a better deal somewhere, but you're looking at a minimum of 1500, and that's if you're lucky
 
Run less lights until your temps are good then reintroduce them.

I'm no light expert but I'm sure running a 600w bulb at 400w will change the spectrum

Don't do this; it shortens life, degrades spectrum and reduces efficiency; 2/3 of rated Watts will deliver less than half the lumens.

HPS is most tolerant of reduced wattage, MH and CDM/CMH will degrade very quickly.

Just don't do it.

If you want lighting you can dial up and down, get LED; the dimmer you run LED lighting, the more efficient it is.

Yeah, I meant it that way, that's why I said run less lights, ie at full wattage, than more lights at less for reasons we've stated.

Heard. I understand the need for some to buy HID lighting when they're getting started for cost reasons but it's a dying technology quickly being supplanted by LED.

I recommend upgrading to quality LED lighting as soon as possible.

Been using Samsung chips for about five years on my leds, swap them out every year or so. And got a few Phillips cmhs. They're the best thing since sliced bread..
I flower with both but use just led for veg

What's the necessity of switching out LED chips that often. IIRC, the timeline for usage is a way longer horizon than any of the standard types of lights...Like 10 years before they lose substantial brightness.

I got a load cheap a while back so swap them out or I'd never use them lol
