New grower in over my head. Need help with identifying problems

Well those pictures definitely look more promising than the ones you posted in post #22.

The reason I asked if it was Nirvana Maui Wowie is because I've grown it multiple times and the flower development at 6 weeks was much more. You still have a long time to go though. I do think that the high EC has had a negative effect on the growth of the plant.
Do you have any pictures from any of your Maui wowie grows? I’d be very interested in seeing what yours looked like through the different stages of growth.

Is the 8-12 week flowering time relatively accurate for the Maui? Are you supposed to measure the start of flowering time from when you flip the light cycle, or from when they start to show signs of flowering?

Thank you. I should clarify, I switched them from 18/6 to 12/12 about 6 weeks ago. They didn’t seem to actually start flowering until about 4-5 weeks ago.
It doesn't matter when you flip they start flowering when they are sexually mature. Your plants from my cursory glance look 3-4 weeks.

Edited to remove the EC advice because I assumed you were recirculating but didn't look.

I'll dig for some pictures. I think I have some on an SD card. I do still have a couple packs of regular seeds I need to grow. The last ones I grew were feminized but I took a couple clones and made a bunch more feminized seeds.

I've been growing for decades so you can't expect yours to look like mine.

Stop overfeeding and keep them healthy. That's all you should do. Cut out all the additives and just feed the base nutrients.

Good luck.

Higher EC = overfed
Same EC = balanced feeding
Lower EC = underfed
Thank you. I check the monitor probably 3-4 times a day, but just because I have OCD, not like I know what to do with all the information I’m recording. I just figured you have to start somewhere, and I’m decent at figuring stuff out as I go. Lol so is the idea with EC to try and get it to a balanced number as the plants uptake nutrients? Meaning that there is no “magic number” to try to maintain?

Thank you so much for all the info!! I know so little about all of this, but I’m very interested in learning as much as I can about this stuff.

First listen to xtsho and get rid of all the extraneous additives. Just use the base nutrients. Next how are you growing? DWC? Coco, ie what is your substrate. What I was talking about is useful for recirculating reservoirs not for drain to waste.

Hydroton clay in plastic net pots. Recirculating deep water culture.
Then this applies:
Higher EC = overfed
Same EC = balanced feeding
Lower EC = underfed

So when I was in NFT rails this is how I knew to dial in my nutrients. If the EC was increasing the mix had too much. If the EC was decreasing the mix didn't have enough. You wanted to be about neutral your EC should stay relatively the same as the plant 'drank' the reservoir.

Start new nutrients about 1/4 and always start with just the base nutrient and don't add anything else unless the plant shows you it needs it.

Awesome, thank you. I will heed your advice. As for the additives, some of them are probably gimmicky, but I just followed the feeding schedule from advanced nutrients for all of it. Some of it is root zone stuff, some of it is stem strengthening stuff, some of it is for bud weight. I’ve also run Hydroguard from day one. I basically got the full product line from advanced nutrients, and winged it based on their suggested feedings. But according to their labels, a lot of the stuff isn’t really nutrients, as much as supplements. Lots of guessing going on by me. My best strength is probably that I’m completely aware of how little I know about all of this stuff. When I was a kid, we just threw seeds in dirt, and whatever came up came up. Now, I’m completely determined to learn how to provide myself with quality flowers, and I’m fearless of the failures it will take to get to that point.

You're adding stuff to your reservoir and you don't know what it is for? That's a huge mistake. Advanced Nutrients has been sued more than once for their labels not corresponding to what was in the bottle.

Again go simple and add as you see need.

I mean…….. I know what they claim it’s for, and those claimed purposes sound positive. And I read the labels and supposed contents of everything, so I can try to learn about stuff, but without an agricultural background, or much horticultural experience, it’s difficult to start by doing much other than picking a company that seems well established, and trying to follow their recommendations. I guess I was maybe looking at the additives from the wrong perspective, I saw them as an added benefit, but it sounds like your saying that they are for correcting deficiency problems not preventing them. It’s tough to tell with their fancy marketing (“increases yield”, “improves resin production”, “protects root zone”, etc.)
