naa I always get thoughts of real bad past life expereinces I have had... And always paranoid about the future and life itself...
Two cents worth from Gryphonn and Ph03nix (old farts)

From a smoker's point of view: Slow down a little and don't 'binge smoke'. That is (if you're not already), smoke less over a longer period, rather than get brain fucked on a big session. See if you feel different when you let the THC work slowly on you.

However, from a medicinal point of view: First, cut way back on what you smoke and see if you feel more 'normal' as in less paranoid. Also, if you're suffering depression (I do), cut back to a dose that doesn't make you nervous and unusually paranoid and most especially, **doesn't make your depression worse**.
We suffer from acute depression. However, we have come to a dose for us that alleviates the symptoms and allows us to function normally. That is, we can get out of the house, we can talk to people (doctors etc) and we don't lie in bed hoping that if we go to sleep, maybe, just maybe we won't wake up again and we'll be 'alive' again.
BUT, for me (Gryphonn) if I go over my comfortable dose, I get very paranoid, but in a social way. I just don't want to go out in case I have to talk to someone.

For both Ph03nix and I, a gram a day of the regular supply of bud that we get is just right.

I should have added, if you think you've had a psychotic episode when stoned, STOP SMOKING NOW. If you drink, STOP DRINKING NOW. If you do any other drugs, STOP NOW.
I don't want to sound alarmist, but the very latest research about the so-called 'causative effects' of cannabis...which in my opinion is a very wrong term...has found that people who suffer psychotic episodes when stoned have an anomolly in a particular gene pair linked to your dopamine output. When affected by THC, the cannabinoidal receptors associated with dopamine output open the tap and allow dopamine to flow. Problem is, it can't shut off and the dopamine floods a part of the brain that then initiates a psychotic episode from a dopamine overload. What should also be noted is that it was estimated that only 2% of the smoking population were affected...AND...the research was done on diagnosed schizophrenics, so the research was tilted in that direction anyway.

Note that it is the brain and the dopamine flood, not the weed that causes the attack.

If you have recurring regular negative effects when smoking weed, slow down or stop and let a GP or doctor you trust know what's happened. You can then see if there is an underlying problem that hasn't surfaced prior to smoking (or smoking in extreme amounts). In a small number of cases, cannabis can expose an a previously unknown psychological condition.

What a load of bollocks, the 'estimated' 2% of people affected? affected with what? a psychotic episode?

youve got to remember these people refer to any normal behaviour as a "psychotic episode",
looking out the window for helicopters for instance, a NORMAL behavior reinforced by our government/police, rather than cannabis itself.

or thinking back on negative events of your life.. whats wrong with that? if you find yourself doing it too often, then you might just be depressed, and looking back into your past for answers. bear in mind peoples childhood's are usually a lot happier than they actually recall.

fact: alot of weed will make you paranoid because its harvested TOO EARLY, and therefor the THC content is far higher than CBD.

erm.. so yea, stop moaning. DONT go to your GP or doc, he will give you valium or prozac or simmilar, which doesnt ever get to the cause of the problem. and no, even if its really bad ''depression'', dont let them tempt you into taking these shitty chemicals..

pheonix was just talking about a variation. an irregular base-pair (affecting only 2%) representing dopamine or something like that, stopping abruptly triggering a psychotic response.

just clearing that up :P

I find it helps if you have a dominantly sativa strain, and you always consider what there is to do before you smoke, cause once you're just sitting there baked, what is there to do but think, and the longer you think, the more you worry about stuff, it happens to me sometimes, rent, am I going to have enough money this month, is a thought that comes up constantly, but if I kind of "plan" what Im gonna do while stoned, I dont have time to think, and I focus on what im gonna do

i would say... calm yourself down. when my mom smokes good weed she sometimes has panic attacks cuz she freaks out and makes her thoughts race.

relax yourself by listenin to calm music. dont worry about anythin till its the time you have to deal with it. breathe deep and slow. sink into your couch/chair. think of smokin bein a time to yourself to relax. just be postive! or turn on a funny show later to boost your mood while token

hope i helped! =)

seriously good advice from the guys above.

the only thing i would ask is what positive benefits are you feeling when you smoke? unless they hugely outweigh the bad ones, maybe you should consider knocking it on the head for a bit. supposed to be fun innit.

The past couple of months I have been working on calming myself down when my anxiety or depression kick in, and it actually works well. It's amazing what the mind is capable of when you need it to be.
