Just because it worked, doesn't mean it is a best practice.
it seems to be the best practice for me... those root cubes never work for me.. get poor results of germination... just sayin..

i guess to each his own... for me it's the best germination rate to sprout right in that soil... I get better germ rates than root cubes, etc...

If I’m being honest cbr I’ve done it many times myself. Now, keeping honest, my plants all germed and lived however it wasn’t until I used seed mix to germ first that I realized my other plants were slow, dark and stunted. They lived but in reality wasn’t my best practice I just thought I was good because it worked

I love the sprout island mix from Coast of Maine. I use it for my weed seeds, clones, and all manner vegetable seeds.

I also didn't mean to put words in your mouth by mentioning it wasn't best practice. That was to make sure other people that read this 10 years from now knew that approach isn't ideal.
