Well you're not really chatting them up if you consider your complaint posting.
lolwut?

I was trying to be kind because you seem to be trying hard.

By telling me that I'm cheap because I'm Scottish?

If you wish not to speak with me in a debate..then cheers!
What debate? I see none.

Well he doesn't want to debate; yet he wants to complains that no one will debate him.
Such shite you speak.

Just like the pigeon on the chessboard: it doesn’t want to *play*, it wants to “WIN”…two totally different things…a weird variation on ‘fighting without fighting’, I suppose, ‘course that only works if you CAN fight (or play)
So astute.

Have you even tried to discuss what it was I was saying?

Don't bother dude, not unless you're trolling them.

I've learned a long time ago that these wingnuts are anything but liberals by definition or policy. They have this religious belief that if Republicans are wrong, they, by virtuosity, must be right. It's just one long slow farting sound that manifests itself into a giant virtue signal.

They have two cults in the US, the cult of stupidity (republicans) and the cult of wokeness/intersectionality (democrats) which are engaged in some ridiculous culture war where the stakes are their own country and their future, which they seem willing to take a scorched earth policy to become/remain the victors. Don't worry though, the corporate propaganda machine (American news cycle) is exporting this bullshit all over the world and has, likely, already changed things for the worse in your own country.

Don't worry, you aren't the only person to believe that disagreement should foster compromise over bludgeoning your opponents into submission with a political hammer. It's sad to see people become victims of their own arrogance, but here we are.

One of my favorite things about trump was how hard his existence shits upon that Randian libertarianism that hangs out in republican circles, be it ever so ridiculous.

"Bootstraps huh...maybe your dad should have made more money. Buy me a building dad. I am a great businessman."

Thinking about it, trump is the closest thing I can think of to the protagonist in atlas shrugged. I tend to mock that book and it's adherents because mothefucker it relies on being born as a captain of industry and that just isn't how it works. Trump got handed everything and was was an ungrateful shit about it who believed he built his empire on his own.

I am more and more pleased that I never read her stuff.
You can cover it in an afternoon, its good as sci-fi. I think it's a mistake to not be aware of what forms the views of those who you disagree with.

Like some dicks could spin it as a yarn about how these heroic individuals shrugged off the weight of regulation in order to reach the true greatness of man. But then you read it and atlas is kind of rapey and your ability to shrug is dependent upon your parents owning a railroad or some other major industry. Their greatness is being handed control of a major enterprise and being bitchy people don't work harder to make them more money.

Honestly, I can think of much BETTER science fiction (so little actual science to it, too) - it’s mostly bile and venom

Google up a Martha Stewart recipe and make a little platter or whatever for a snack while reading.

It is ironic as fuck that Martha Stewart really embodies a certain ideal that I dont think she herself actually is. Or snoop Dogg is a monster and humanized her, mixed feels there.

Ps. I do think you should grab the audio book for a car trip or whatever, it's crap but famous and culturally relevant so you should be familiar. It's sort of like mein kampf, you don't agree with it but it is something you should be familiar with so you can actually talk about it.
