That's a nice looking healthy transplant, seems to be taking off. From the leaves I'm guessing its an indica dom strain. Love the cover crop as well.
As for the CS route you suggested, I'm definitely gonna need to brush up on the info as it's been almost 8 years for me.
As for my cross, yes its purple bud. When initially ordering beans I was looking at the lineage of both strains. It grows green leaves but purple calyx. Previously I had been unsuccessful in finding a purple calyx strain, most are just the fans or sugar leaves or only hints of purple in the calyx. Taking into account the cannabinoid & terp profiles, as well as certain thc percentages, I ordered a handful of purple strains off Seedsman. Its weird tho, most colored strains I've grown were decent smoke, but not trichome crusty like how I prefer. When growing them out I noticed the types of coloring on different parts of the plant from different strains & some needed that temp change to really make the color shine. I selected the 2 strains that displayed colors naturally without the temp change & also loaded with trichomes & ended up with PPD & Grape Ape. Grew them for a cpl seasons and then started breeding to better the strain & as to not lose the genetics.
 
The older ladies have started to "preflower".


Just did some intense lst on this solo(before the photo), 13 bud sights doesn't seem too bad for a cup grow but a few more wouldn't hurt.

Thanks I also think the transplant went well but fingers crossed. Indica dominant for sure creme de la chem is the strain and I'm hoping it stays relatively small considering my hight restrictions. Thanks, the cover crop is so random but I think it'll be a big help with the top layer of the soil and what not.

I understand that STS is the new gold standard but the CS I have was so cheap I wasn't going to pass it up.

Sounds like a fun process, can't wait to fully get into breeding. It looks like good bud but what would you grade the cross?
 
I've always wanted to use cover crops but I always pack my tent tight & veg for 6-8 weeks. So light can get in short supply under the canopy. I've thought too about using it in my mass soil container where I compost & amend to get my living soil. I need to look into different cover crop options and which do what.
I've smoked creme da creme but never had the opportunity to grow it. I too like indicas and hybrids, I've tried sat dom & sativas but always run out of height and my 2 tents are 80". If growing sativas I'd always veg inside until end of May then move outside.
In the past, probably 8 years ago I got into CS for a bit and freezing male pollen. Currently I don't have any CS and need to see which brand is good I guess. I always grew from regular seeds and separated the males in one tent and fems in the other & the best male I would just throw into the fem tent.
The cross I have now i previously got to the F3 stage years ago & those seeds I popped & am currently growing and watching carefully for any variations. I'll reveg after blooming to select a mother to work off of. 2 of them are damn near identical and the other is a tad spindly , but that might have been my fault because of damage to the rootball during a transplant gone bad. Time will tell I guess, I'm just happy to get my strain back.

I'll take anything that helps keep the soil moist and rich, cover crop, straw, or that material that covers the earth boxes. Bone dry soil makes me cringe. I haven't smoked or grown it(till now), and can't wait to see the results. I'm jealous of anyone with multiple tents who can bread, veg, or flower different plants efficiently. Hopefully they turn out perfect.
 
I've come to the conclusion that the sack was due to the topping.

You're right, I'm more pissed at Amazon for failing to deliver the watering system I paid overnight shipping for and didn't receive it in time.


The girl on the far left is hurting from something else, I didn't have time to change out her resovior which had some fish emulsion in it, so it soaked in that for three days.. I feel better about the whole thing now, I just need the pollen sacks to start growing ASAP.



After reading a few solo cup threads I now understand that I should have been watering daily, I'm still working on how much to water or how much to top dress is needed.

The little one inside the bed will be fine and I shouldn't have to worry about feeding her again for for another month or so since I just transplanted it. Missed a few days of training but it's extremely healthy.

Water 5% when they're small. Up it to 10% when they get bigger. Every once in a while water slowly until you see a few drips of runoff, just to make sure you get complete saturation.

That's what I was thinking, so .9-1.8 oz per day for the cups, and 1.1-2.2 gallons for the bed? Easy enough.
 
Probably not. It's an 22gallon pot, and up to this point I've only been watering the soil for the cover crop, worms, and microbes.

That sounds about right, I've gone up to maybe three days before without watering the cups. Better habits to come. I see there's no real fix for nitrogen toxicity.
