On Monday i fished for another 6 hours and all i got for my efforts was one foul hooked trout for the whole day :-(

We had a bit rain the night before so when I arrived at the river it looked absolutely perfect i was sure some perseverance would pay off... It didn't :-(

I've only got until October 6th then I've only the Tweed to fish and it's damn expensive and I'm skint.

If I could land just one salmon I'd be happy to call it a year but I've still a score to settle from last year lol.

Maybe I'm just too high but I don't see how that would work. No matter how you go about it if that hook was coming from inside of the mouth out through the lip it's either pull it out the way it came in or pull the other way and pull the line through the lip.

But again I am super high so if I am wrong I will need a diagram to get it lmfao

Edit: I guess you could rip the lip completely to turn it the other way around but I've never needed to do that to leave the hook in.

Lol yeah under closer inspection yeah i think it's unlikely the hook could get into that position without coming out.

At a glance i thought the hook shank had gotten behind that little platey thing on its mouth.

Now that’s more like it. Looks like a chinook hen.
That last pick you posted, i never seen a head so small on a king.

this lake i kinda live by, Lake Oroville, went back to stocking the surplus chinook from the feather river hatchery.
Up to about 6 yrs ago, they were stocking a Washington state strain of coho but they were escaping out of the lake so they stopped. Even though the coho salmon used to also be in our waters.
They were a fun catch in the lake but the landlocked kings being bigger are fun too but yeah. Slimy

They don’t seem to have much luck with that hatchery or any in NorCal for that matter. A good sign is the native coho return to Lagunitas Creek this past winter. It returned more Coho than the Eel and Russian COMBINED.

Got any recipe's that stand out for trout?
Maybe I'm just a fish snob from Alaska but they just taste bland to me.
It doesn't matter if it's a hatchery or wild fish either (they clip here so you can tell).
I'm not a huge fan of fried for health reasons, but would give it a go on occasion.

I'd love to hear peoples suggestions.
