Examples of Democratic Party leadership

The war has become a vital test of Biden’s governing principle: that this century would be a battle between democracies and autocracies and the free world would win if it proved it could deliver for its people. So far, Biden believes it has.
at this point, another candidate would have to have a very good platform and a lot of charisma...as long as the republicans don't get the miracle that they're hoping for out of Hunter's laptop  , Joe looks like a good bet. he is old, but he sure seems to have his shit together to me.
someone could replace him at this point, but he does have some momentum going, he's staying on the path, the republicans continue to guarantee that the democrats represent the moral and ethical highground...
all Joe really has to do is keep on doing what he is doing.

Replace him? when he, like Obama pulled us back from the ledge we were teetering?

He has a lot of momentum going..my millennial LGBTQ friends are like 'should we? He said he'd only run one term'..ummmm he codified same sex marriage a week or two ago soooooooooo how can you even ask? Does that achievement have any meaning to you or your wife?

the real "reality" of the situation is that none of it is up to us...it's up to the crowd mentality at the time of the election.
Biden's performance, and the performance of the democratic party will be the biggest factor, but a factor nearly as large will be how skillfully the republicans can continue to smear Biden and everything and everyone connected with him. WE don't believe their ridiculous lies, but there is a large segment that do believe them...and they vote.
Unless someone spectacularly, obviously better than Biden decides to run, i'll vote for him again...because, seriously, the few who might qualify for the spot wouldn't run against him, anyway...
here's where i get some shit...who is he going to run with? Harris is a dead fish...she's a good person, but she has had the presence of a mouse hiding from a cat...she's supposed to be leading the efforts to deal with immigration along the southern border, and with leading the efforts towards voter reform, and she doesn't seem to be making any headway into either. i realize they're both daunting tasks, but i never hear ANYTHING from her, about ANYTHING...
if she is holding press conferences, i'm not seeing them...and i'm looking...
she is reportedly hard to work with, or for, her communication chief and her press spokesperson quitting in their first year, and is not well liked by the white house staff...not real issues, but they do add to an image.
i don't see her as an asset to another Biden run, or presidency, at the moment.

which frighteningly suggests people think there is a moderate-maga position.
They are being held hostage by their most extreme and in some cases desperate elements and the base is almost entirely uneducated white trash. 76% of them still have a favorable view of Trump despite of his 1 vote showing in the house speaker election. If a dozen of them broke away with Kevin and joined the democrats they would be in fear of their lives, not just their seats.

Yeah I liked him as well; if there is a vp shakeup in 2024, he would probably be my choice as I think he had potential and it would give him the experience he lacked.
that is an excellent suggestion...Buttigieg is MUCH more likeable, visible, and relatable than Harris.
i was curious...Buttigieg is a Maltese name, which means "owner of chickens"....maybe we don't need to promote that factoid....

Biden doesn't need to tap Pete for VP.

Harris isn't going anywhere, and she hasn't done anything to lose it that I have seen. I really am not able to understand the desire for some uber VP taking shit over. We already had a Cheney.

I want to beat the republicans. to do that, you need the best opponents you can put up against them.
If she is the best opponent, then go with her, but i'll be perfectly honest, while she hasn't done anything wrong, she hasn't done much right...she hasn't done much...at all...VPs aren't supposed to be huge news makers, but they aren't supposed to vanish from the face of the earth when they're not being pulled out for some ceremonial visit or duty...
she has a reputation for being difficult to work for, and with, that won't seem to fade. i think Biden could do better, i think Buttiegieg would be better, but so would a lot of other people.
he could more than likely win with her, but he could win bigger with someone else, someone who won't fade into the shadows after being elected.

I got sidetracked and forgot a lot of what I was going to say. Basically something along the lines of I think you are likely just not watching the ways she is out there interacting with the public. The fact that she hasn't made news just speaks to how crisp her shit is.

Harris will be able to turn it on when it is needed, when the national spotlight turns to her, like in a future VP debate. She doesn't need to shine right now. 2026 would be a good time to start pushing her into the spotlight to have the best shot in 2028. I would love a Harris/Pete ticket. But that just might blow too many minds. But I look forward to that election.

It will be a huge year because 2030 is another census year.

The whole 'reputation' thing just screams gossip man, I am not going to just buy that one. She is a hard worker and prepares well for everything she has done, and crushes it when put up against someone.

Pete is great, but my guess is you lose more voters kicking Harris off the ticket than you gain with bringing him in.

---Oh and I forgot, I had to look it up and in 2 years Harris has the 3rd most votes of any other VP in history.

And she more than doubled what Pence had.

i honestly don't give two shits who the vp is...i just want someone who will be contributing to beating the republicans...Harris can do that, but i think there are at least half a dozen candidates who could do it better.
i'll vote for her if she runs, but will everyone? i don't know...

'Everyone' voting for her is a crazy high bar, that I would agree won't be something she can pull as VP.

I know you were just exaggerating, but I think this is one of those inconsequential topics though, there are so many ways to think that 'we know' but really I think it is just more of the 'grass is greener' talk.

As for beating the Republicans there is nobody that they have that would hold a stick to her in both her experience and her ability/preparation for any head to head questioning. There might be a handful of 'better' candidates, but that would mean pissing off a whole lot of people who are extremely proud of her work as Vice President of the United States of America, and very little benefit in doing so.

There will always be something that someone can nitpick, but I am really enjoying the virtually drama free White House.
