Are Auto's worth it these days.

That statement couldnt be more wrong.
I have never had a photo grow last 10 months, 5 is about average. Your assertion that you produce the same quality and quantity in 2 months is something out of the land of make believe
Thanks for quoting this. Dumbest shit I’ve read today so far, days still young though

I agree with the 3 month veg statement. The flower for 8-20 wks? Maybe 8-12… unless you are growing tropical landrace sativas. I do 4 photos in SIP’s with 6wk veg then flip. Never had a grow indoors with photos go past 140 days. 2 1/2 months is standard flower time for most hybrids and indicas. Obviously sativas take longer. But there are fast flowering sativas out there…
If you have to veg 3 months, you’re doing something wrong

The sad thing is what i quoted was by someone that has likely never grown a regular seed.
There are arguments to be had for auto's but he missed the mark there

Unfortunately the direction I think things are heading, autos with "pistil guard" technology will be the wet dream of your money first breeders.

What’s really scary is that once pistil guard genetics are introduced into unsuspecting cannabis genetics. In just a few breedings, afflicted genetics could possibly go sterile.
The reason I said this is because they say that the pistils guard plants cannot accept pollen. They never said that it couldn’t produce pollen.
Referring to the time frame of a complete photo grow. Not to brother above.
2 months for the plant to reach maturity + another 4 weeks for the clone to get a decent size= 3 months. And another 3 weeks for the plant to transition into flowering. 7- 14 weeks is normal for a cannabis plant with some being prized for going 20 weeks.
without cloning, the entire process came take a minimum of 5 months. Then here comes the cure. An 8 week cure isn’t nearly enough to produce the type of results that people brag on. Most photos require a long cure to achieve its maximum smoking characteristics. All that takes time. Lots of it.
We aim high so we don’t miss marks. Peace.

wait, so auto bud is different and doesn't need so much of a cure....really, you think this?

I cure all my bud the same, wether outdoor or indoor grown. Dry time may be different…

i'm harvesting my first auto in a few weeks. bud looks normal....cure will be normal i bet. i can't imagine doing it different based on much of anything. i guess i could see outdoor holding a different amount of water in the plant. i usually water the night before harvesting to give me a long cure before jarring/fermenting (i worded that correctly btw, lol).

I dont think either need any cure unless you are long term storing.
Only thing a cure has ever done for me is to diminish smell and flavor as time goes on. Humidity stays spot on though and it does get a bit smoother smoking

my understanding: curing is when you are drying with air flow. fementing is when you seal it up with some moisture still in it. like, your bud should be good enough to smoke and smell good before jarring. the smell changes over time in the jar as it dries/burps and ferments mildly, but you aren't really curing anymore. it's like tobacco. when i dry really well, i don't need to burp. you are losing terpines when you open the jar, yes. it might even smell the strongest the day you are jarring...i have had some like that, but the fermenting does bring out some other smells that might not be present at jarring. best stuff is always the stuff that smell fantastic or like the end smell before jarring. that stuff doesn't have the explosive smell when grinding i have noticed...the smell is always on.

Oh yes! The game has changed! Most autos now are in the same range as their photo counterparts in flavor, and potency. Obviously the yields would be less as they have their own cycle but I’ve grown autos for about 5 yrs now and no one can tell the difference. I would keep them indoors in a controlled environment but will do good OD as well. I am consistently getting 3-4 oz per auto and that’s in soil. In hydro, that number could double. I’ve seen 6-8 and sometimes 14 oz on larger autos.View attachment 5261274View attachment 5261275 That one yielded 190g dry.View attachment 5261276View attachment 5261277
These two are same cultivar, two different phenos at 4.2 oz and 3.7oz dry… they have come along way in 10 yrs! First pics are custom breeder strain. I would have to go into my records to find the strains crossed. And last two pics are Lil MobStar’s Dream from beavergenetics. Lil Mobstar x Sorbet Dream
Is that wicking system buckets you have there, and if so do you find them better than traditional hemps buckets?

Never had the chance to try hempy, DIY’d these from materials I had. Won’t pay for it if I can make it. And yes, they are wicking. Small container of compact wet soil extends past bottom of inner bucket to bottom of res. I like yogurt containers, large. But any will work as long as it touches the bottom. If having problems finding one, check your local dollar store for something that will work. No issues with these… unless you let the res run dry.

have grow one auto in a 15gallon pot and got 1lb + - with 3 gallons 7oz's --Yes !!! autos are worth the time -was never a fan of - untill I found some great breeders that consistantly giave large yields> when it comes to auto's - need to see what "f" they are - one's I mentioned are f-4's to f-7's which are very stable. Also if breeder iwht auto's whuichis a breeders dream, meaning tjhat 4 cycles can be done in a year making breedeing a bit faster fast to find that stabel strain (Ethos)
