TY for the info. My idea wasn't solely out of line was it?
Because i neither use chatgpt, nor will i take the time to look before jumping. I'm just not that smart, bruh.
Are you still using it?

And are you a lawyer or something? You whip this board in line like a dean of harvard law school.
I'm not really using ChatGPT for much of anything on the user end. I'm learning the backend of the technology. What makes it work so to say.

No I'm not a Lawyer but I used to watch Law and Order.

Trump to travel to New York Monday ahead of Tuesday arraignment
Former President Donald Trump is expected to travel to New York on Monday ahead of his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday on still unknown charges, a source familiar with the planning confirmed.
Trump is expected to turn himself in Tuesday morning ahead of the arraignment, which a court spokesperson indicated would be at 2:15 p.m. eastern time.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Secret Service agents were at the Manhattan courthouse where Trump will turn himself in, to tour the site and determine how the former president will get in and out securely.

Authorities are preparing for a frenzied atmosphere given the media attention and possible protests that will accompany Trump’s arraignment.
A grand jury voted earlier Thursday to indict Trump on criminal charges for his role in organizing hush money payments made to an adult film star during his 2016 campaign.

The indictment, which remains under seal, follows an investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) that centered on a $130,000 payment fixer Michael Cohen made to adult film star Stormy Daniels shortly before the election.

Joe Tacopina, an attorney representing Trump in the case, has said he does not expect Trump to be handcuffed. But other details remain unknown, including whether he will have his mugshot and fingerprints taken.

New York state law does not allow for the public distribution of mugshots.

Trump is expected to be released after his arraignment on Tuesday because the charges against him do not include any violent felonies. He does not have any rallies or campaign events currently scheduled for next week.

Trump is selling limited seating to watch him getting booked. $250k a pop. Along with it comes a signed set of prints.
People are saying they are gold plating the bars of a cell in Rikers in anticipation of Donald violating bail and the SS will set up a field office in an adjacent unlocked cell next door...

Alan Dershowitz is not right wing media. He's an intelligent Law Professor. He's definitely not right wing. He's a Democrat and knows more about the law than anyone posting here.

A true blue anti trump Democrat that taught Law at Harvard for 50 years thinks this is an extremely weak case. Let alone his stance that the statute of limitations has ran out. People that don't even know basic law terminology on here calling me some kind of maniac attempting to overthrow the government when they could be educating themselves. You can lead a horse to water...

"Dershowitz is a member of the Democratic Party. In 2016, he said that if Keith Ellison were appointed party chair, he would leave the party; Tom Perez was appointed instead. Dershowitz endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential election, and later endorsed the nominee, Barack Obama. He opposed the impeachment of Bill Clinton and said that he voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Dershowitz campaigned against Trump during the 2016 election and has been critical of many of his actions, including his travel ban, his rescission of protections for "Dreamers", and his failure to single out white nationalists for their provocations during protests in Charlottesville. Comparing Trump unfavorably to Hillary Clinton in October 2016, Dershowitz said, "I think there's no comparison between who has engaged in more corruption and who is more likely to continue that if elected President of the United States."
The issue that Bragg is taking a risk by invoking a novel strategy was discussed about 60 pages ago, I'm glad you managed to catch up.

Dershowitz is a wing nut. Very intelligent. Bad judgment. Bad law professor. Right wing partisan. One of the former guy's attorneys. Fellow connoisseur of Epstein's teenage girls.

In spite of the thousands of right wing prosecutors in America, not one could find evidence of criminal behavior on the part of Hillary Clinton.

It's just an opinion piece but Alan Dershowitz makes a compelling argument as to why this is such a weak case. But what does he know about the law. He was only a Harvard Law professor from 1964 until 2013. Not much legal background there but he still makes some good points.
Dershowitz lost all credibility representing trump in the second impeachment trial. trump is hard on lawyers, member when Rudy was America’s mayor?

Someone should salvage the big gold Trump letters and hang them on Rikers in honor of the president's visit, maybe one of those brass plaques they put on historic sites like where Washington slept. I do have a good idea though and it involves using a laser projector to put the big gold letters on Rikers, if Trump should arrive there...

you tell them who to bet on, they place the opposite bet, we get 10% off the top...i'll even split it 60/40, you get the 60, you have the valuable talent...i can't consistently pick losers like you can.
He thinks Trump is a great guy too, so much for judging character.

I don’t think he will ever go to prison.

He lost both his credibility and his dignity when they caught him on Epstein's island, but he never took his underwear off, he says... Donald probably has blackmail on the asshole to keep him in line, he isn't that stupid all on his own, just a moral failure that Donald spotted.

Until now, XT has been posting baseless opinions that he pulled from his ass. At least he's citing a source this time. What Dershowitz is saying is shared by others, people who are not GOP partisans. Does XT seem desperate because he obviously cherry picked to confirm his bias rather than learn? Yes he does. Still, though, he gave us something to refer to so we that we have more than his raving and rants to go on.

https://abc7news.com/why-trump-indictment-might-hinge-on-a-novel-legal-theory/13059302/

Falsifying business records is usually a misdemeanor in New York, but charges could be enhanced to a felony if done in furtherance of another crime. In theory, the alleged felony could amount to federal campaign violation if prosecutors argue it helped Trump politically coming so close to an election.

"We are pretty sure that at the heart of this charge is filing false business records with an attempt to defraud -- that's a misdemeanor, a state charge -- that can become a felony if it's done in furtherance of another crime," Shaw said. "So, the question becomes what might that other crime be?"

"If it's a federal campaign finance crime, that is pretty novel legal terrain," she continued. "It's also possible that there's another crime, in the vein of a state tax crime, that a false records charge could be tied to, making it into a felony."

Then again, Bragg's not stupid,

When Bragg took office, he inherited the cases from Trump and he hit the brakes, cancelling one investigation, drawing criticism that Bragg was weak..

People who have worked with Bragg find this interpretation implausible. Instead, they believe it was completely in character for the DA to have slowed down the Trump investigation while methodically evaluating the evidence. His team may also be incorporating valuable new witnesses and fresh evidence, including Trump’s tax returns. And even Snell wholeheartedly backs Bragg against the critique that linking the murky payment to Stormy Daniels with an alleged violation of federal election regulations—something necessary to charge the former president with a felony—is a novel, tenuous legal strategy. “I think that criticism is ridiculous,” Snell says. “It’s not a novel legal theory to simply apply the plain letter of the law. Just because you haven’t had a situation where that law was paired with a particular crime before does not make it a weird, far-out legal theory. It just means that this permutation of laws has never occurred before. If people are going to say that this combination of statutes is uncharted—well, yeah, the combination of offenses is uncharted too.”

Terri Gerstein worked with Bragg as a prosecutor in the New York attorney general’s office, and she regards him so highly that she campaigned for him to be elected DA. “When you’re on the outside of a government investigation, you just don’t know what’s happening on the inside, even if someone was a prosecutor themselves,” says Gerstein, who is now the director of a workers’ rights program at Harvard. “Alvin is not someone who would bring a weak case. He follows the law and the facts without fear or favor.”

I'm suspicious about what role Kompromat played in how Dershowitz veered into ridiculousness as well. I suspect that Trump is both a victim and user of Kompromat. It will be interesting if we ever find out what were the records that Trump tried to steal.
