Drying hash with a Buchner funnel

Just came across this while doing some research on making something for hash drying. I'm gona try it out

You can buy the flask and funnel for around 100 bucks.

So I got an Amazon same day delivery on one, hopefully it comes in today. Making some hash right now. Cutting out days of drying/oxidation should help keep alot of the terps from boiling off. Might try some dry ice underneath too like the video suggests.
Anyone try this method before? It's just vacuuming the moisture out and since I have a degassing kit anyways to make bho I figured why not try it out? 5g is a bit much for a freeze drier and I've been trying to figure out a way around it. There's a few diff ideas but this seems the easiest/cost effective solution.

I figure I can just use my pressing screen

It won't dry it completely but it gets to to the point where another 24-36hrs and it's bone dry. Less with the dry ice method.

That would work. Lab nerd also makes paper specifically for that if you find the screen doesn't work.

I'm probably repeating what the video already says to do, but I'd lay out the hash as thin and evenly as possible and pull slow to start. The hash will find it's way into the funnel if there are any leaks. The pressing screen might work better for that as you'll have way more coverage of the funnel. Maybe line the whole inside of the funnel if possible?
I always really twisted my bags and tried to squeeze as much water out of the hash before drying, but I also have seen how much moisture buchners can pull out.

In the vid, they used a large screen and lined the whole cup, and had the hash in the middle

Might have just been the specific funnel I'm using. Not sure. Didnt pull any water through though.

I wonder if the hash isn't covering the complete surface of your funnel, you may be pulling more air?

How much is the vacuum pump?

I use a Büchner funnel and a vacuum pump for bench-scale work. The liquid will be trapped in the Buchner and the filter will hold the solids back. It should dewater, don’t see why this wouldn’t work. The part in the video about the oil somehow mixing with the product is none sense- literally impossible
