To be completely honest with you, my entire life got turned upside down. The now ex fiance was fucking what used to be my best friend. And my entire world got turned upside down. So currently I'm not even growing anything. I lost all my genetics, all my beans, I mean everything. And I'm actually focusing on running a small hotshot business at the moment and literally living on the road. I drive cross country about 6 days a week.

So haven't really settled back down yet to pick up on growing again. But I will one day.
Really sorry to read that comment mate, I have learnt a lot from you after reading all of your posts. I'm 3 months away from starting indoors and I will be pretty much following your methods that you've discussed, as I find my own way on this journey. Even though I've got no clue who you are, I must say you do sound like a top bloke so I hope you're back on track and have found your way again. Cheers.

I have done this. I used the “ probiotic Wellness Garden” that uses the earth box, as the guide.
I used a diy octopot sip, with a 3 gallon container for medium.
One of the differences is that PWG adds a mound of Blues Compost as a cap. In time, the “mound” gets smaller as the microbes and fungi turn it into food for the plant. Only need to topdress ( top mound) when the mound has settled.
I will be useing a 5 gallon sip bucket ( Real bucket system) and use a mix of Greens Probiotic, and PWG IDEAS.
I used mephisto Autos for my 3 gallon run and got really good results.
I look forward to the easiest grow yet!!!!

Do I add em1 to the Rez every time I refill it ?
A ways back on the first few pages he talks about expanding em1 with molasses. It's 3/4 cup to 3/4 cup in a gallon of water from what I read but there's way more than that to understand from just skimming and he gives links to elaborate on this method.
Please share how this works for you I am currently getting a small sip together for outside !!

Expanding or activating em1 is just the process of stretching your em1 further. You can only dilute it once too, it’s an easy process but you don’t need to expand it to use it, you can use whatever you’ve bought at the same strength - it’s just cost saving to activate it. You can buy activated em1 certain places and it’s priced accordingly, something worth looking into if you don’t have the time/space/energy to do yourself.

Do you have any links for the activated version? My efforts to activate failed every time.

I’m in Canada, so I’d imagine this isn’t going to be very useful, but if you explain your process maybe we can figure out why you’re not getting to where you want.

Haven't tried after the first few failures but tried to follow the method listed in this thread equal parts em1 and molasses then into a glass jar with an airlock. Wrapped the jar in a towel to keep temps consistent and light out but it would typically die off after the first week

What were your temps? The site I linked says that at 70 it will take almost 2 months, at 80-100 it can take as little as 1 week.

Yes, the em1 is what allows you to keep the reservoir full at all times.
thanks!!
I will do however the Em-1 lets me keep the Rez full?? I don’t understand that as my Rez is allway full in my sips without Em-1, and they grow.
Could the Rez just be a carrier to get the em-1 into soil??

it’s good to see this thread still alive….

Yep I saw that. I think one needs to insure the em-1 is the concentrated kind to do the expandion

It's not good to keep your res full consistently, without the em 1. They tend to get funky. Em1 keeps that from happening, and then you can keep your res full.

I’m restarting my probiotic grows…

Kinda long read as it’s a Cartoons and Cannibis Saturday morning.

I farm indoors. The last time I tried this, I used diy octopot styled sips, 5 gallon rez with a 3 gallon container on top.
I DIDNOT use the inputs they suggested as at that time to get Bu’s compost to me cost $50 just in shipping. So instead I used my own inputs. I made my own labs useing the rice tech. I used bokashi I allready had, that I added beet juice power and some minerals too.
Went to Home D Pot and picked up some composted cow manure
I used the “Probiotic Wellness Garden for Earthbox” system as a guide line.
My end result, ( with a few hiccups along the way) was indeep impressive.

Then lockdown hit and things went to “ shit” Still was farming but went in another direction.

And now, I’m dipping my toe back into the indoor probiotic grow, this tyme useing Greens ideology as my guide lines.
My sips- are Real bucket system with a 5 gallon rez that feeds 2 buckets.
The living soil is a diy mixture of coco, peat, vermiculite, perilite, worm castings, with rock dust, neem, Oneshot, biotone, and mycos added. (I allready had all this stuff so I used it)

Instead of Bu’s compost I got composted cow manure from home d pot, with a bag of compost. Mixed these together, 70%-30% cow to compost. Added dried rabbit poop in also.

Instead of Gro-kashi I used Bokashi Brothers Bokashi that I added beet juice power and minerals to.

I am out ofEm-1 /labs ( still deciding weather to buy or make)
So I’m useing “Photosynthesis Plus” at least for the first few weeks of soil incubation, till I get/make the labs.
Got it all lasagna-ed up waiting for the fun to start.

In no means am trying to change the recipe. But I had every thing allready except for the cow compost and compost wich cost me $8, add in gas and time and round it up to $10.
I’m will eventually get all the recommended inputs, but for now I’m gonna to make do with what I got.

I have been keeping my Rez full in my sips for years with no issues.
Of course I’ve been useing coco not living soil and the ONLY thing added to my Rez was water and monosilicic acid
Probiotic sip growing may be another animal.
However I will be keeping my Rez full running probiotic, with just water to start, then adding photosynthesis plus, because I have it and need to order Em-1 or make the labs.

it definitely has to do with the inputs/how wet the soil is all the time.

In a living soil sip, you risk dead, decaying worms funking up the res. Without Em1, labs, or letting it run dry before refill, you risk detrimental microbes doing God awful things to your plant. May not happen, but if it were me, I wouldn't risk it. Good luck.

Also labs is much cheaper and easy to make.

I understand what you say.
yet it has never happened to me. In years of sip growing. The benign of dip is it keeps the same moisture all the time. So to me, letting the Rez dry is not conducive to the peak operation of a sip.
As I’ve mentioned, my dips have allways been water and monosilicic acid.
I get this is differnt, and plan on adding labs, but the drying of the Rez goes against the grain of a dip (in my mind) especially if useing peat. And there will be no worms in my soil, and if there is they will migrate up to the dryer areas

Well, I’m trying this again.

using earthboxes, homemade soil (compost/peat moss/pumice) with Gaia green amendments - will be topdressing every 3 weeks.

trying durban poison, 68 santa cruz haze x m48, trainwreck. Just planted the baby clones and will wait a week before I start filling the rez with em1, top dressed bokashi though.

ive got airstones in the rez and I’ll probably turn those on when I’m going into flower.

This didn’t go well the last time but was 100% my fault, I’m optimistic that this time is going to go much better as I’ve dealt with several factors that I felt might have contributed to my failure.
