Didn't cool down much last night, some monsoonal moisture got pushed over the mountains and the clouds kept us to 66 degrees. There is a little low off the So Cal coast pushing in the marine layer down there and pulling clouds over us. Supposed to be mid 80's this afternoon. Mountain thunderstorms again.
Hummingbirds haven't figured out their feeders have edible liquid in there yet, but the finches are all over the sunflower seeds.
Mornin.

I messed up last night and left our bird feeders out. Heard motion sensors going off for the front porch at 1 am and opened the door to a fairly big black bear trying to pry it's way into the bear proof trash can. It took off as soon as I opened the door and I went to bed a few hours later. Wake up this morning and the bird feeders on the back deck are smashed to pieces and it bent the pop up tent they were hanging from really bad. Guess I slept pretty soundly to not hear all the destruction. It hit my neighbors place too and tried to drag off his whole trash can as it couldn't get into it. Gotta love the mountains sometimes :bigjoint:

I had a critter come by for a visit last night too. A rat! He was eating the seed that the grackles throw out of the feeder

I ratchet strap my bear proof can to a tree so that the bear can't take off with it. I've had them break two trash cans already that were bear proof and take off with one of them. If they can get them on the ground they just pounce on it with their front paws until it pops open. Good luck with your bear!
