I watered my seedling until run off and this happened

In this case, it's way different. Watering til runoff daily and bringing in fresh oxygen will encourage root growth.

Thanks for that, I never did coco so thats why I told him I wasnt sure. I think everyone should start out in a nice super soil for their first couple of grows because of how easy it is and how forgiving it is, instead of jumping straight into soiless or hydro where things need to be dialed in 100% or things go wrong fast. To each their own though

I may dabble into hydro at some point. Power goes out here more than Puerto Rico so Ill need a generator dedicated for the grow. I want to see what the hype is all about vs soil.

I understand where you're at. For me I killed everything in soil. So when I got started I used homebuilt NFT tubes. Dialed it in that way because I did have numbers. That's kind of the great thing about cannabis is it is so flexible it seems to have a place where everyone can start. So vive le difference.

Rule of thumb is dont start feeding until the cotydelons (those little round leaves all the way at the base) turn brown and wither away. The cotydelons are made to feed the plant until it develops roots.

This is a picture of mine that did the exact same thing at the same point in its life as your plant did and it bounced back just fine and is strong. Mine did it after I put it outside in the sun where it got sun all day.

Coco basics:
Feed daily to run off once the roots are established........I start feeding around day 3.
Never, ever give plain water..........ever.
Never ever let the coco dry out........it should always be saturated.
Feeding to run off replenishes the nutes, pulls in fresh oxygen to the roots, and prevents salt build up.

I made it clear I dont grow in coco. He was worried about his leaves dying off and thats what I was answering. I gave general answers to keep it simple for a new grower.
 
Not downing anyone who grows in coco but, maybe growing in coco isnt for you. I found coco to big big pain in the ass. Promix, Earthworm castings and Dr Earth or Gaia Green dry Amendments DONE, or even just Fox Farm Ocean forest. Add nothing initially. Amend once in flower done. I ph my water amend once or twice thats it. No need to check run off use 10 different bottles of snake oil, terp teas and Cal Mag madness. If I wanted another job id grow in coco

Coco is quite simple if one takes info from those that are experienced in growing coco. It does take a little time to mix some nutes, but it's fun and relaxing working with the plants. Usually. Lol.

Now, when a bunch of soil jockeys show up and throw out a bunch of random bs to a new guy trying to learn, yes, it sounds so difficult and it's annoying to see it happen again and again.

I've always been of the opinion that if I have no experience on grow style, nutrients, etc.........I don't give advice.
You'll never catch me giving advice on a soil grow because I have never grown in soil.

To be fair we all smoke a shit ton of pot. If they are soil jockeys, does that make us coco nuts? I know I've been dabbed enough to jump in to help and I took the plot completely sideways as I'm probably doing right this very minute :roll: :lol:

I'm still concerned about his .6 EC tap water lol I have some Cherry Gelato that may smooth that out.

Did you just start a club? Coco Nuts, Unite!!!! Hahahaha. I didn't mean soil jockey as any sort of insult, it just sounded funny at the time. Also, I smoke almost exactly zero pot. I just enjoy growing it.

I am not going to lie, I grew in coco for a while and I agree, it is a pain. I switched to dirt and it is much easier. I tried automating, it barely makes a difference. I lost a crop before and the thought of losing a crop in dirt is not half as bad.
 
Thanks guys I really appreciate it. I've just watered them with plain tap water until run off, they were fine until I added the canna start nutrients so I'm hoping they recover from it :-) I never knew this brand of coco already has nutrients mixed into the coco so that's probably where I messed up

Definitely think peat based mixes are better, high humic acid content =tasty buds and less supplemental stuff to buy. Also if you’re in North America peat sourced from Canada is way more environmentally friendly than coco fibers shipped from mostly SE asia
