I think it’s a way to say Democrats are no better and thus not qualified to hold Repugs to account, at a level of sentiment.

right. Theirs is a moral argument. It's effing irrelevant how people feel about each other. Or is somebody better than the other. What Hunter and Donald face are legal ones. The only legal questions are, did they do the crime they are charged with and if so, what is a just sentence? Hunter is not facing any tax fraud charges right now, btw.

Fascists don't use logic in their speech or actions. There is no point in engaging a discussion of ideas with them. Fascists speak in terms of ideology that has a peculiar form of circular logic. Self reinforcing and independent of reality. Fascists cling to logical fallacies. Axioms that are taken as true and used to justify their stupid actions. Replacement theory. Liberals are communists. America needs a "strong leader" ("Only I can fix this"). The educated elite weaken the spirit of the American People. MAGA

There is no reasoning with them. I'm hopeful that the next few years of civil and criminal trials of Trump and his gang -- that will certainly result in incarceration and bankruptcies -- will take the sting out of their movement. Eventually their political power will wane as their demographic power wanes. In order do to that, we need to suppress their movement, now and for the rest of this decade.

Fascism in Europe wasn't defeated by war alone. It was defeated by investing in people and establishing a politically active majority. Social democracy in Europe defeated fascism. It's time to do the same here. Bidenomics, for example.
