What's the next best way of cooling down your temps in grow tent ?

You will need a drill and 6” hole saw. I added a pic of an example, you will need an adapter so it can connect saw to drill. Drill a hole. Be careful, saw will jerk due to inner pieces of solid wood that bind the door together, the frame of the door. Take your time as the jerks can sprain a wrist. Also because drill can over heat, it is a tough job.

I did two 6” holes with a louver which is just for privacy. You can turn them at an angle so you cannot see into the room. A rectangular vent, I thought take door off and jig saw it but door probably too thick for a jig saw. Refer to another wood worker for that.

I would first for most have a conversation with land lord or roommates if they have a say in property changes first of all so you can grow but also because this will look ugly, I had to convince my folks to let me do it. Luckily I tried growing in a 2x2, size of grow matters, you may do fine with central ac with a small grow but I had to argue to turn up ac all the time.

But to the point, I grew but then quit and reminded them that the small room still got too hot without growing so they bought it when I said it would help with and without growing. It does! I have no need to touch the central air and they can have all doors and windows open and my grow still functions the same.

They said hellll noooo at first but said fine and was done and over with and I am very happy. They look at it after and say meh I guess it aint that bad. (Its hiddious!) I would look into basement growing if you can. Should be cooler down there.

Yeah thanks bro I appreciate it thanks to you I'm going to put a hole through the door and just exhaust it through 100% think I'll just use a strong sharp knife to make my hole in door is literally like cardboard lol hope it works drill would be much better but I don't have a drill and no time to wait for one need to sort these temps asap .

Where is your air exchange coming from. Let me be more clear. When you exhaust air you create negative pressure in that room. If you blow everything out your hole where does the fresh air come in from. If it's hot outside and it comes thru a window that's not a solution. If it comes back in under the crack in the door that's just gonna pull your freshly heated hallway air back in.

Window AC: Works well, and will make rh dip. Perfect to run flowering tents right next to it. I’ve gotten as low as 67F in a small tent with 300w running. Rh hovers in high 40’s low 50’s.IMG_7200.jpeg
Portable AC is more expensive up front.. didn’t get a chance to see the bill increase on it as I haven’t used it for this room. It’s a little overkill.

Finding a safe way to vent outside can help you as well. That’s a whole lot easier on the wallet.

You would probably be better off exhausting out the window and letting your 72 degree ambient house air leak into the room vs drawing the air your dumping out the door right back into the grow room. Your house is gonna get hotter and hotter.

An inline fan has to extract hot humid air somewhere else, otherwise it will simply raw the same air back. If not out the window then out the door into the rest of your home. An oscillating fan really just helps equalize the climate throughout your tent, strengthens your plant stems and fights mold and rot a bit, but does nothing to lower your humidity. A portable air conditioner will cool your tent but if you don't exhaust it away from your tent room, it will fight itself to maintain your climate.

The hole in door is for passive intake, the exaust is built into window to exaust outside so the heat can leave. As you see above, you would probably have to fix something to a window anyway but this was easy, just sheet wood to have a 6” hole for exaust. Duct tape to make it sealed so all air goes outside.

I said another room because some people have that option but is more work. They say no crawl spaces or attics or between walls as it can breed mold.

For me it would be the other way around if I cud but yes I hear that however I can't leave window open due to discretion issues so I have to find other ways of getting cool fresh air to the room hope it works

It would be with an ac unit rather it is the big ones or a mini one that should exaust outside to work better if that is what you mean, it still looks discreet. Carbon filter would make it not smell which I would disconnect to double check is still working frequently.

Forgot to mention where the hole should be, on the door it should be towards the bottom as cool air settles and heat rises so it would help cool it down that way too. This worked for me with temps at 75-80 in home. Not many people can tolerate temps above that so this could work for a lot of people with common home temps of 65-80F.

The door is open and window is locked can't be open due to discretion issues and fear of drug addicts who live next door stealing my hard work etc my dehumidifier does its job well my only problem is I don't have a fresh air supply from an intake fan so my fans and hopefully my air cooler/purifier is my only hope lol

Ok I thought you meant discreet but in terms of security depending on how your window sits you can use wood to lock it shut and it wouldnt be much harder than breaking in in general. Hate to touch on that topic but people with ac units are all susceptible to that but not if you know how to lock it shut with wood work and make it no harder than breaking a window.

I can't keep the window open period I have drug addicts living next door its not safe as u can imagine I don't wanna risk them stealing my fruits of hard work I can only do as I said just hope it works

Lol I don't think a piece of wood is going stop someone breaking into the grow room

What is your plan again? As you read above venting into same area drawing air in wont help much. Just want to make sure you have a good plan before ruining property unless it ends up working.

I understand, it really does depend though if you can mess with your property that you could make it secure. I don’t know of many examples other than my own and any that exist online to show how, but it seals the window and ac units usually have flimsy wings to fill in the rest of the window equivelent to wood.

You can use as thick of wood as you want. A window doesn’t stop much either if people want to really do something.
