Currently using a 600w duel spectrum hps light for a space of 120×120×200 tent what would happen? if i added another 600w red spectrum hps

I have 6 plants in week 4 of flowering should I just let them finish with the fuel spectrum hps light I'm using atm? Or can I? add another 600w red spectrum hps would i produce better stronger weed and yield? If i did add another 600w red spectrum hps

Heat would likely be unmanageable; yields and quality would suffer.
Excess heat, especially from HID lamps, is not conducive to a healthy plant
You're essentially putting a 1200w space heater in a 4'x4'x8' volume.
So will a 600 watt hps be enough for a 120x120x200 tent will most of the 6 plants receive the right coverage? For flowering

I don't use HID lamps, but the par map for a 600w HPS in a 4x4 does not look promising.
A modern LED lamp is roughly double the efficiency of a 600w HPS.

Well so far so good seems to be doing a fantastic job regardless of what that chart says these buds are getting fatter everyday so it must be doing something right lol

was a time when 1 old boy used a 400 hps(?) down low, with a larger bulb up high ,in a silo grow that did quite well .i never saw him use a red in the grow ,it may have been what he was lacking!

Also 600w hps lights are

600- watt hps grow lights are the most efficient hps grow lamp 600w hps grow lights produce more light output per watt used than other wattages and cover around 36 square feet .

You got that right at least.

Same way a Ford Fiesta or Mustang GT each produce a certain amount of power.
Hps lights have the needed yellow and red spectrum at a higher output than most led lighting or metal halide bulbs. This means hps lighting will stimulate flower and fruit production more effectively. :eyesmoke:

Wrong. It's a narrow band comparing CRI of a led panel (modern leds always >80% CRI and those colour combos expand with recearch continually, layouts improve)

Surely a 600w dual HPS has the most photosynthetic efficiency and luminous flux in metallic bulbs, but the issue is almost always a crappy reflector. Something like a premium adjust-a-wing costing 3-4 times the bulb is necessary to bring it close enough to enjoy the brightness (~14" distance), this also requires meticulously accurate fan control. A heat shield is needed below the light bulb to negate heat radiation and hotspots.

That is an example of a setup without an AC unit

Generally speaking a dual spectrum will give a shorter plant, less yield over a standard HPS bulb.
The point of them is one bulb to do it all instead of a MH in veg and HPS in flower.

I guess you googled some HPS advert..

Will an extra 600w hps increase yield.. yes , in theory, if in practice you can keep them far enough away that radiant heat isn't to bad, should be possible.. but the big one is can you manage the air temp..?

If your room is 70f lights off and 80f lights on with 1 hps, it's going to be 90f with a 2nd one.

Unless you've already got oversized extraction to handle doubling the extraction rate then you'll need to buy new fans.

One option would be air cooled hoods.. in this particular situation cooltubes would be useful due to the narrow reflectors and minimal additional resistanceto airflow, 2x large hoods would be a struggle to fit in a 4x4.

There's a lot to think about.. a 1000w in an xl hood would give better coverage..

Most people can't manage that kind of heat in a tent.. but some can
