Good point, good to see your optimism back here, missed it in your absence, truth is the guy's a walking contradiction,he's not learned and is ignorant of history, and has the attention span to struggle w/a comic book, and is easily manipulated through flattery/on the other hand has been wiley enough to exploit digital tech. to forge a cult like following and fill his pockets.Don't think he or brand could have existed 25 yrs. ago.
There is nothing to be lost by disqualifying Trump, he will always claim election cheating, even if he wins (he should have won larger). Disqualify him under the 14th, convict him and imprison him this summer, bye Donald. We don't hear much from imprisoned convicts, just silence when the cell door slams on their asses. I hope they let him run around lose on appeal (I doubt it) after disqualification and conviction in DC so he can attack the GOP nominee and divide the GOP with a write Trump in campaign. I hope he divides them and causes the republicans a historic loss in both the senate and house too, while he syphons off millions of useless write in votes for the presidency or his fans just stay home, if he tells them to.

Trump is a moron who is emotionally and socially retarded (truncated development). I'm not engaging in hyperbole here, just stating simple unembellished facts backed up by a mountain of evidence. He is morally unfit and mentally incompetent; those are the facts and only a fool would argue about them!

I hope for all our sakes the legal system disqualifies and disposes of him he is a lifelong criminal who is overdue for justice. When Donald is broken so too will the spell over the stupid, others will camp outside his prison for years to come.

I amazed with the stresses he's going through and his junk food diet his tiny black heart hasn't exploded yet so there's always that to hope for.

You can only contract heart disease if you have one.

/on the other hand has been [wily] enough to exploit digital tech. to forge a cult like following and fill his pockets.
This is the bit that confounds and frightens.

He is the Covid of politics: a new and serious pathogen and we still are seeking an effective treatment. The tenacity of his (and all other insurrection caucus members’) base is a strain on the system.

Would be hilarious if the two networks had a live feed between them and Trump was thrown into the debate. Mind you, he would storm(y) out in a huff.

DeSantis, Haley qualify for CNN Iowa debate; Trump set for town hall counterprogramming
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley qualified for CNN’s GOP primary debate in Iowa next week, while former President Trump is set to counterprogram the event with a Fox News-hosted town hall.

The network reported Tuesday that DeSantis, Haley and Trump qualified for CNN’s first GOP debate, which is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST on Jan. 10 in Des Moines, Iowa, though Trump is set to instead participate in a Fox News town hall starting at the same time, the latest instance of the former president snubbing a GOP presidential primary debate.

Meanwhile, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy failed to meet CNN’s qualifications for the debate, which includes polling at 10 percent in three national or Iowa polls, including one CNN Iowa GOP poll.

Ramaswamy slammed CNN in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tuesday, ahead of the network’s announcement of those who had qualified for the debate, criticizing a handful of its anchors and commentators and previewing the GOP debate as “the most boring in modern history.”

He said he would be holding a counterprogramming event instead with conservative media personality Tim Pool.

The development comes as Haley has seen momentum in New Hampshire, though Trump still leads her in the Granite State. While DeSantis has poured most of his attention into Iowa, he’s struggled to close the gap against Trump.

They can't govern, run the house, stick together, conduct primaries or get out from under Trump and are in the thrall of every lunatic, fascist and racist loser in America! Are they even a political party or a cult of crazies getting more detached from reality while Trump has to deal with it? From here on out the hits will keep coming and we should have a much better idea of Donald's fate by the end of this month. How will his base deal with it? How will he deal with being disqualified? One of his fans just shot up the supreme courthouse in Colorado in an act of domestic terrorism over is disqualification, that can't be going down well with the SCOTUS.

Hanging my head down and shaking it. Clown show to follow?

Utah becomes first state to grant RFK Jr. ballot access
Utah became the first state to give independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ballot access, according to election officials.

State Elections Director Ryan Cowley said the independent met a requirement of 1,000 signatures to get on the 2024 presidential ballot in the Beehive State before an early March deadline, according to The Associated Press.

It is the first state where the anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist’s campaign met the requirements for ballot access, according to campaign spokesperson Stefanie Spear, per the AP.

Concerns about how Kennedy could affect the 2024 presidential race have been raised among Republicans and Democrats, with both sides releasing messaging attacking Kennedy.

That messaging included the Republican National Committee (RNC) sending a list of “23 reasons” he should be opposed and trying to portray him as a “typical Democrat politician.”

Kennedy initially launched his campaign for the Democratic nomination, but in October announced he would be running as an independent.

Although Kennedy has sought to play down his history as an anti-vaccine activist during his campaign, the news out of Utah comes after his campaign hired another leading anti-vaccine activist as its communications director.

Del Bigtree, the executive director of the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN), which is the country’s second-most-funded anti-vaccine organization, said in a letter to supporters that Kennedy is healing the divide among Americans “who censor vs. those who disagree.”

The Hill has reached out to Kennedy’s campaign and Cowley’s office to confirm his ballot status in the state.
Kennedy is speaking to supporters in Utah later Wednesday.

Trump rhetoric ‘increasingly apocalyptic,’ Haberman says
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman warned that former President Trump’s campaign rhetoric has become “increasingly apocalyptic” in recent months, predicting he is likely to lash out against political opponents, including President Biden, if reelected.

Trump has leaned further into authoritarian language in recent months, specifically promising political revenge against political opponents — sparking comparisons to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

“[Trump] has been speaking — as have a lot of his supporters and a lot of folks on the right — in increasingly apocalyptic terms, describing essentially the country is on fire, describing everything as in tumult, describing everything as terrible, describing everything as the ultimate fight to take the country back, quote-unquote.” Haberman said Tuesday in an interview on CNN, where she is also an analyst.

“What he’s been saying all year is, some version of, ‘I am your retribution,’” she added.

In speeches in recent months, Trump has described “far-left thugs” as “vermin” and said migrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

The former president has also promoted himself as a “dictator” in social media posts, leaning into the authoritarian comparisons.

Haberman warned that the incendiary rhetoric and promises of revenge are not bluffs.

“[Trump] has made very clear that he is going to use his time in office to go after President Biden and his family,” she said. “He is going to radically change the federal government. He is going to erode the post-Watergate norm, between the Justice Department and the White House.”

“What he will do with that presidency is not necessarily what that means, in terms of final battle,” Haberman continued. “But there are — there is also a payback component, for him, personally.”

Trump has denied he was aware his immigration rhetoric echoed Hitler, and doubled down on the danger he claimed migrants cause the country. The White House went after the former president for the comments.

“Echoing the grotesque rhetoric of fascists and violent white supremacists and threatening to oppress those who disagree with the government are dangerous attacks on the dignity and rights of all Americans, on our democracy, and on public safety,” the White House said in a statement.

2012 RNC. Watching it made me nostalgic for the days when Republicans thought that terrorism was a bad thing. He begins to interview the empty chair, calling his imaginary friend Obama, at 3:38 in the speech.

What does Clint think of dictator Donald now? I'll bet there are a lot of people who feel sheepish about praising or defending Donald in the past. The evidence is just too overwhelming for a "normal" person to ignore or rationalize away and the trials will make even more so.

According to wikipedia, by the time the election rolled around in 2016, he chose to support neither candidate. By 2020, he said he wished Trump would not act the way he does on social media.

In other words (my words, is more like it), Eastwood doesn't understand how bad Trump and MAGA were at the time that he was still willing to talk about politics and hasn't said much about politics since 2020. He wanted Bloomberg for prez in 2020.

"But I am Much More Maga than Halley is."

Noem says it would be mistake for Trump to pick Haley as running mate
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) said former President Trump should not pick fellow GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley as his running mate.

Noem was asked by Newsmax’s Eric Bolling if it would be a mistake if Trump chose Haley to be his vice presidential pick. She replied “yes,” without hesitation.

“But if he picked her, I would tell him I disagreed with him. But then I would support the ticket, because he’s still the president and the president still makes the decisions,” Noem said Tuesday.

Noem has previously said she would be Trump’s running mate “in a heartbeat.” In September, the former president said he likes “the concept” of a female vice president but hadn’t given much thought to whom he would choose.

Noem is among a group of rumored candidates, including Haley, who has gone head-to-head with Trump campaigning so far.

“And you know, I just, I’ve had a lot of disagreement with Nikki Haley over the years, and I just don’t know which Nikki Haley is going to show up every day,” Noem said, highlighted by Mediaite. “She’s a different person depending on whatever works for her political agenda.”

“So, I just, what I love about President Trump, or what I think the American people love about President Trump, is that he’s just himself and he’s just genuine,” Noem continued. “He’s just a normal human being who tells the truth, and gets up every day fighting for people. He has no reason to do this job other than the fact that he really truly does believe in America. And he wants to put the people out there — they get up every day and go to work. He wants to put them first.”

Noem is not running for president in 2024 but has maintained a public presence, frequently appearing on cable TV and running an ad on Fox News ahead of the first Republican presidential debate.

Trump is the leading candidate for the GOP nomination but has not made an indication as to who will be his running mate.
