the fools. They want to deorbit 450 tons of mostly aluminum. We found out that aluminum oxide dust injected into the stratosphere by deorbiting satellites, rocket stages etc. is catalytically destroying ozone.

Spacex should put the thing into a high parking orbit instead. It is a museum piece.

i'll go with you on the higher orbit.......

also this may be a little far fetched, what about put it in a orbit around the moon, gonna need one there anyways, while it's heading there start development of a new station, once the new station modules are connected the original ISS can be parked around the moon......connection to both....it's just a thought, ever far fetched

If we park it say 2000km up, it’s out of the way and not coming down for a very long time.

That has a much more accessible energy budget than anything lunar.

huh...just found this Axiom Station to re-use some parts of ISS and replace others...interesting.....

this is how i found it:

then:

it's possible.......

We’re out of the gate early and hard.

she's a monster, and so early too for a Cat 5.

On a sideline scientific note, that symmetry is wild, distinct eye wall in some cases you can see the sea bellow, really compact......

i think she'll stay a cat5 till it hits Jamaica, really don't see her calming down till the Yukatan......

And those guys don't have FEMA and the National Guard riding to the rescue like I did. They are going to have a long row to hoe.

You can tell the houses that were broke up in the storm surge. Maybe folks who live on the beach should go back to the grass huts. Very few of the building hung on to their roofs.

yeah i know, most of those islands don't have anything. Jamaica is one of them, and so is the Cayman Island which will be right after before the hit in Mexico. Current spaghetti models are running from Mexico to Baton Rouge right now...so..in the next 24hr to 48hr will tell a lot.....

i put a couple of picture of the eye of this in the beautiful thread in TNT....

2021= Highest temperatures ever recorded on Earth
2022 = Highest temps ever recorded, beating 2021
2023 = reached 2 degrees Centigrade warmer than pre-industrial.
2024 = already is the hottest year ever recorded

I don't like this trend

Start looking for another planet?

More likely start looking for better ideas. Greed and power grabbing will only make it worse.

Sounds like a billionaires solution. Screw this planet and try to convince people of stupid solutions like living on Mars ffs. Smh

I wonder between air travel and rocket launches, or missiles, which harm's the environment more? ( I guess which adds the most carbon to atmosphere?)

Edit: just googled and space travel only contributes 1% of what commercial aviation does. But, more space travel will occur in future for satellites and other endeavors.
