the fools. They want to deorbit 450 tons of mostly aluminum. We found out that aluminum oxide dust injected into the stratosphere by deorbiting satellites, rocket stages etc. is catalytically destroying ozone.

Spacex should put the thing into a high parking orbit instead. It is a museum piece.

i'll go with you on the higher orbit.......

also this may be a little far fetched, what about put it in a orbit around the moon, gonna need one there anyways, while it's heading there start development of a new station, once the new station modules are connected the original ISS can be parked around the moon......connection to both....it's just a thought, ever far fetched

If we park it say 2000km up, it’s out of the way and not coming down for a very long time.

That has a much more accessible energy budget than anything lunar.
