Hey thanks for chacking in guys. I always look foreword to seeing you all here.

Ab, I think I have a grip on my nute solution now. I dumped and mixed for 2 EC and everything looks ok. I will gradually bump it up over the next few changes till I think I am there.
Glad to hear your juice is dialed in. How big is your rez, and how often are changing the nutes? You adding anything other than your GH nutes to the mix?

Grow on my brother. :blsmoke:

Good morning Ab,

My res is 30 gal and nothing in it but GH and H2O2.

I'm running out of some chemicals right now so I am going to Bloomington this morning to stock up on a few things and get a new exhaust fan so I can get my environmental controls completed.

The Woes of an Outbuilding Grow Op

The lack of infrastructure is the hardest part to deal with.

No running water except the hose dragged in the door.

No drain to the sewer so juice is discharged out in the grass, I think it will kill it.

Electricity had to be beefed up to accommodate a few thousand watts of power. I ran a separate 20A breaker out there on 10Ga extension cord. (Just the cord cost almost $100)

Temp control is very difficult :wall: and requires a lot of attention even though the enclosure is virtually air tight and is insulated with 3/4'" rigid foam board. The temp swing inside the shed is large and an automatic switch from heating to cooling is not possible at this moment.

I am currently trying to fix some of the problem by using two Ductstat controls with a timer on each one programmed to different 12hr shifts. The exhaust fan will be on one and will be timed on during lights on. The heater will be on the other one and programmed to be on when the lights are off. Connected like that they could not be on at the same time.

While I am wiring all that up I will put in a dimmer to the fan so that I can idle it at really slow speed to keep a negative pressure on the garden for smell control.

Home Depot had a $15 heater with a 600w setting. Exactly 5A, the capacity of the ductstat, I hope the stat holds up. The heater has no thermostat just three speeds and is controlled only by the Ductstat.

Well I better get a shower and get on the move if this is to be done this weekend.

:peace: out everyone, have a great weekend:joint:

You sir have some healthy plants. Let me know what you think about this idea. I want to make a 3' x 3' ebb & flow table and grow all my clones in either grow bags, net pots, or pots with the netting on the bottom only I might try all 3 who knows yet. The medium would be rockwool inside of expanded clay pebbles. The center of the ebb and flow table would have a vertical 400w HPS in a cool tube right up through the center of the table. All the plants will be placed around the cool tube.

Nice healthy plants though. That is the extra chunky perlite right? I might have missed it but how many times a day do you flood in flowering and for how long? Would you recommend the white chunk over the brown balls?

PS... I feel ya on the temp issue! Good luck figuring it all out!

I don't think placing your light up threw the middle would be a very good ideabongsmilie
sounds like it might end up zapping your plants if there is a leak:wall:

sounds like a logistical nightmare :-P

Ooops... Sorry for the thread jack...

(I was thinking the wiring would come from above inside the cool tube. :bigjoint:)

Thanks for stopping by guys. I welcome any and all MJ related patter and conversation.

Sounds like leading edge stuff dude. How many plants would you grow in a setup like that?

Seems like only the inner circle would get the full benefit of the light and any behind would just be in second place.

I've seen some killer grows with just bare 1000W HPS bulbs hanging vertically between the tops of the plants. I think Scalded Dog might remember that grow, I think we spoke about it.

:mrgreen:Heating and Cooling Automation Update:mrgreen:

I got all my wiring ran for the flowering chamber and am running temp trials right now.

I pretty much set it up how I said with:

2 ductstats
2 timers
1 600W heater
1 175 cfm fan with carbon filter

Nothing is smoking so I feel the installation is solid.bongsmilie

I have the night setting already set, but it hasn't been hot enough to set the heat point yet.

I'll get some pics up after while.

:peace: out my weed growing brothers :peace:

I was thinking a stadium setup with dutch irrigation trays, younger plants down in front, older plants just above. I was thinking of a SoG harvest of 4 plants every 2 weeks, then rotate 4 more in. 16 plants in the system at a time. Locations around the light are to be determined based on how the light hits them. I'll have some (8x) 2700k 43W (100W equiv) CFLs to support the flowering.

For now I'm just going to build the Ebb & Flow table. Later additions will be the vertical grow conversion using the table as a base.

My mother plants are all about to switch to DWC and I want to keep 4 clone factories in each speaker cab.

My clone tub has about 16 cuttings in it right now. I've been working out a clone schedule so that I can take 4 cuttings every week.

I read your post on the subject and look foreword to some pics.

I hope to get as many as 34 plants :weed: on my 3'x3' homade flood table.

With that number I could harvest two plants every week, I think that is the harvest schedule I am going to shoot for. It will take a few months to get it down perfect but it will be worth it.

I had to buy this list to build the HVAC controls.

1 receptacle w/box $3
1 extension cord $7
2 Wireless thermometers at $14ea
2 DuctStat temp controllers $21ea
2 timers $10ea
1 charcoal filter $50
1 177CFM exhaust fan $169

An endless supply of sweet stinky fresh wholesome and good bud.........................................Priceless.

So I have nearly $300 in it I guess.............damn. Anyway here are some pics of the system.

Flowering at 3 1/2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHOOOOOPIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Here is a shot of all the happy girls flowering away.

These two are of the White Widow dirt mother. All Miracle Grow and nothing else.

Here is the little clone that could as a mature mother from which three clones have been taken and are currently rooting. She has only known fluorescent lighting. 2 shoplights

A bagseed with leaves as big as my hand.

I only have to wait another month for my first of hopefully many harvests.

I have some questions. I'll be posting pictures of the build next weekend when I can afford new camera batteries.

34 plants would require 8 different nutrient solutions wouldn't it? One mixture per week as the flowering cycle demands? Or are you going to mix just a medium strength bloom solution and flood with that? How will you flush the ones you plan to harvest?:?

My problem is that I'm going to have to cut my plants maybe a week or two early if they don't finish up in 8 weeks, they will veg for two weeks from clone in the clone tub and then go straight to flowering in section 1 in the other room. Because of vent problems I have to move back to the basement because it is colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra doing push-ups in the snow and I can vent down there without having to worry.

I was going to have 4 tubs of nutrients the first one a weak mix bloom the next a mid mix bloom the third a full mix bloom. Diamond nectar is the additive of choice for me. The last tub would be all water to flush the plant for the last two weeks. All of this on one table .... At least until I can get my vertical grow op up and moving. So there will be 16 plants on the 3'x3' table and 8 clones in the cloning tub, 4 of them rooted for two weeks and 4 of them cut fresh every other Friday. That would make my total 24 plants.:weed:

How are you going to fit 32 on the table?:o

Ok that is enough for now... Your setup:hump: is looking dead sexy...

I don't think that all that is necessary to get some bud. I am a lazy stoner dude, I could not possibly keep a schedule like that.

DubB83
How are you going to fit 32 on the table?:o
The table is 3'x3', the pots are 6" dia, so that is 6 pots across each way for 6x6=36, minus 2 for the fill and overflow squares so I end up with 34 max capacity in full production.

From the performance of the current Weed Baron Mega ClonesTM:weed:, it seems that they will fit inside that footprint and grow a single cola lollipop style.

DubB83
How will you flush the ones you plan to harvest?:???:
To run a perpetual harvest in such a tiny footprint as mine(total of 40 sq feet) one must make adjustments and compromises. I will have to run a single juice for all plants for their entire lives. No flush, no changes, just easy to keep track of and do.

My garden is based on a thread that I found on this forum. Mr. Al B. Fuct is a lazy stoner like me and his system produced well. Here is a link to the thread I decided to model my grow after.
