Can my carbon filter be too big?

Team

Hello everyone! I'm back for my second year of indoor growing. As soon as the Christmas stuff comes down the tents go up!

I just bought this 8" x 22" carbon filter on an auction site. I didn't realize how huge it actually is. My existing set up is mostly based around 4 inch fans and ventilation. Am I able to rig this up to my 4 inch system and have it work properly or is it just too big? I'm gonna run it in a 32 x 32 x 6' tall Tent

Bigger is better with filters. Less restriction, more flow and better odor removal.

There are 4 to 8" duct adapters that you could use. Amazon, Walmart, home Depot have them.
There not hard to make up either if you wanna save the trip and have some scrap a pair of snips a rivet gun a few rivets and sealer/tape kicking about it's just a tapered collar with one end bigger than the other to fit onto your filter to the existing spiral/ducts

Only issue is the amount of air flow will create a lot of suction in your tent, and the walls will be sucked in. I have an 8" filter with a 4x4 tent, open 2 intakes on bottom, set fan to low, and still have this issue.
Then the fan is running too fast or there isn't enough intake capacity, try either using a fan speed controller to get the right fan speed to maintain the environment, or using some of the other duct ports on the tent as intakes, I love me an intake above the canopy, it's actually very beneficial.
Hope this helps
