Spider Farmer Self Watering (wick) System - Anyone Use? Hot Tips?

I have these bases and have run into a couple problems. One the reservoir outlet is about 5 inches off the bottom leaving about 3 or 4 gallons of water or nutes unused. Second since I'm running coco my water ph rises so I'm cautious about letting the water run constantly. Have been monitoring my water ph daily and just hand watering the bases 5 gallons a day. I plugged my reservoir hole and cut a new one lower. Once I flip I'll try it out if I don't like it I might convert it to more of a drain to waste setup and run a water pump. This is my current run in the

Your pIants look great!

I run organic soil so should be ok with ph. Did you re-mount the rez opening on the bottom, or lower on the side?

on my second week of flowering and started to use the pots myself. so i think im going to just use water in the res and nute from the top, i dont want to get my res all dirty with nutes at the bottom of the res, does anyone else do the same just water from res and nute from top? i figured i could turn off the vavle and nute and then a day later turn back on the auto watering system.

Maybe turn off the res a few days before nute day, to avoid overwatering when you nute?

And I would think turning the res off after nutes would not do anything, since the pot will be full of water and the ropes won't draw up any more water until the pot drys out more...?

Just guessing btw, as I won't be running the system until this fall.
