Are passive vent flaps a potential light leak?

Trying to make sense of this? I've just bought a mini grow tent set up due to space it's a vivosun 24"×24"×60" but I just noticed there's no f#£@ing intake port holes? For an intake fan It only has passive vent flaps but how will that not cause a light leak during flip if the vent flaps are open?

I dont get any issues from light leaks. I roll the duct ports wide open. Negative pressure with no intake fan. It takes a lot of light to bother them and be able to photosynthisize. Its good for extra airflow to keep rh in check. Herms will herm, Im yet again changing my setup to have nothing but single plant tents. So they cant pollunate eachother or contaminate as bad with mold if I get it.

A true female wont herm and is breedable if you want to. A good clone with a low tendency to herm is still good for repeatable results. No need to worry about the age old light leak concern which Ive found in my journey of studying breeding. If it herms and seeds you can still cure it, then dry it brittle and run through a sieve and de-seed a pound real quick.

"Surprise!" - yeh, that's both a head scratcher and a pain in the ass.

My thinking is that the answer is "perhaps" depending on the amount of light in the room in which the tent is located and the direction of the light.

You might want to contact their customer service people or you can use a set of these.

Good idea bro But the vent flaps are rectangular not circular unless I'm misunderstanding something? Here?

Doesn't have any on the top? I use a long duct wrapped back on itself to block light. You could always get 2 flanges that go back to back then cut out the middle. I've done it before

Yeah just have a fan or two on the inside mixing air 24/7

agree with gem i use convection to get rid of heat for the most part in my tents, i think i may have used a lower vent one time

You're fine. The tent is not air tight. Even if you close the flaps and push the velcro tight, air is going to get in the tent.

Just leave them loose and you'll be fine. You won't get light in there unless you shine a flash light in there.

There's a huge mystery about plants getting "too much light". The "science says" it's got to be bright enough to read a large print newspaper before there will be an issue. Think about how much light there is under a full moon. It's quite bright for humans but not near enough to cause problems for plants.

I like it but I thought intake air from a inline fan was supposed to pass through the bottom? Port holes?

I'm thinking about doing some DIY myself gonna cut and make my own port hole for an intake air fan and seal with foil tape
