The only thing I want to do is make things easier to find. I have talked to people about FAQ and that is their only complaint.

Several people have been looking for one certain article and they haven't been able to find it so they send me a pm. On certain days I am flooded with them. And spend a lot of time sending out the info. But I know where this stuff is (mostly).

So that is why I keep stressing to keep it simple. How we accomplish that well now I have you mega brains to help ... lol ... so this should be easy.

Why not ask people what they like or don't like about FAQ? See what they say and maybe work that into whatever is decided.

Everyone says the same things though, its hard to navigate.

I'm talking to kindprincess on yahoo about it at the moment, have you got a yahoo addy mogie?

fdd overgrow is like what i had in my post from pg. 3 fourth post down. If you want I will put up the entire link so you can see how that was organized.

We keep from requiring a second page. Many people don't realize this even exists. And this isn't limited to just newbies.

I agree with non about the categories his sample categories could branch very easily, I admit the admin section is a bit of a pain in the ass but it is one of the best pieces of software out there atm... I don't have time to write one.

If we start with 10 categories it would be very easy for the user to find what they are looking for. IE if I was looking for how ofter to water my plants.

Soil - Watering - how often to water.

Another problem we could have is copyright it wouldn't take much for overgrow to come after rollitup. So if we are up for it they should be re-written or taken directly from our forum.

Overgrow would be going after nearly every other site dealing with marijuana on the net if that was the case. Most don't even bother to credit overgrow and/or the author of the material.

Yeap if done right people will flock here because of that very reason. That is why I think we need a number of people with varied backgrounds in growing. That way hopefully we can cover all or most of our bases.

i've talked to ngt, i've looked through the faq's. some of them need to be nixed, and replaced with valid and accurate info. cugine has a link to one in his ph thread, it states that hydro ph range is 5.1-5.9

that's wrong, it's 5.5-6.2; things like this need to be remedied. he has a defficiency due to lockout, because he read the faq's. we need to be 100% on our info, so as not to mislead our n00bie growers.

also, rollitup, are we not limited to how the faq's look? is it possible to get a different layout or something?

something with more color; ngt and i discussed this for an hour or so, he explained that the layout, and color was limited to the program. and that we can do little but organize what's there.

i'm thinking a main page of topics. select one, and it would take you to a page of topics that go under that main category. then, if needed, those items could be links to yet another selection page.

that way someone can say, "ok, i'm growing hydro and i need to know about bloom boosters."

they could select hydro, then nutrients, then flowering period.

i hope i'm making sense...

a blog may work well... at least it would give us more option than the format we're using now. my biggest prob with the faq's is it looks like a windows page. no color, no life... just plain and boring. we gotta give it some zing :p you know, bells and whistles :mrgreen:
