how do i connect 120volt items in 240 outlet?

my first suggestion to you would be to shut off the breaker that currently is tripping.after that , see how many receptacles are still running in the immediate area.then we go from there. are you in a closet or in the middle of a room.

breakers are in the garage and its locked cauz she dont want me to use the expensiv cars.. lol

don't think i can help you then bud. sorry . i am an electrician by trade but if you don't have access to breakers then your screwd . my next suggstion would be to get more efficient lights and ditch the led"s. 1 400 watt hid light will do the work of 4 ufo's ... really.sounds like your wastin alot of energy. u can veg for a month with just fluoro "S . and then switch to 400w hid for flower . good luck. pm if you have any electrical questions.

i would say you should be pretty skilled to make up and wire a new subpanel .. don't you think?thats really not the type of shit you should fuck with unless you know your shit. but anyway, yes that would probably work. the stove plug has to be a 4 conducter wire though. subpanels really require a seperate neutral and ground .bottom line is he really needs to consolidate his setup.you could grow 20 plants with 1200w of power.unless you need an a/c

If it is 50amp then you should have a four prong cord...

Each hot is 120v to neutral... so you would wire the hots to the mains on the breaker box and the Neutral to the neutral bar.

In that image the transformer pole would be your stove plug and wire from the outlet for your stove. Install breakers and wires... voila.

It looks intimidating but it isn't...

the hots from your stove plug go to the 120v bars in the breaker box as well as the ground and neutral to their corresponding spots in the breaker box. Add breakers to the breaker box, wire to plugs. Mount to the back of a piece of plywood so everything is in one small area. Complete.

actually range lines installed over 10 years ago did not have seperate neutral and grounds . they only had three prongs. meaning no NEUTRAL!just like older dryers and hvac units.alot of 240v shit does not require a neutral.

whatever dude go nuts . you can wire a subpanel sure. no prob .just remember , wire nuts are overated, hope you have smoke alarms , and i prolly put in 20a receptacles. not 15a

Definatly put in the 20A receptacles if you are going to do that, it will give you a little room to expand if you want to add that extra fan/cfl's ect.

It all depends on if he has three or four prong outlet. If its 4 prong 50amp then a subpanel can be made with ease. If its not well then its another story.

No where in my suggestion are wire nuts... just a portable breaker box which plugs into a 50amp stove plug mounted onto a piece of plywood for a compact design. I've made and used these for power solutions when I'm unable to access breakers and I've never had a fire. I feel they are very safe provided they are built correctly.

you go to the breaker box, turn the power off, and swap the double pole breaker with two single pole breakers, and replace the recepticle with a 120v outlet. you can then run a new line, and will have two 120v lines opposed to one 240v line.
