The Kellogs corp is based in my state, along with Post Foods & Purina Ralston, kellogs is one of the largest high paying union shops in Michigan, they pay union wages & full benifits to ten's of thousands of workers in a state thats fighting the highest uemployement rate its ever faced,Kellogs is one of the major employers on the western side of Michigan & one of the few corps left in Michigan that isnt closing shop,or paying employees an unliveable $8 an hour wages.

Yes,Kellogs succumb easily to pressure from its customers to can Michael because they dont want to be associated with anything to do with any illegal drug, what happened was "His own act of stupidity" & not the act of Kellogs, boycotting a corporation that pays thousands of people well above liveable wages with full health insurance, over a man who now has millions of dollars in his pocket, a man who will allways live a better life than most americans is an ignorant & foolish act, tens of thousands of workers can suffer lay off's or reduced hours over a boycott based on the actions of a multi millionare who brought this on his own self.

Yes it sucks & yes he is getting fucked, but to fuck over thousands of innocent hard working men & women over the act of stupidity of a very young newly made multi millionare is unresponsible & unwarrented.

This is an unjust boycott & a boycott i strongly reccomend that people do not participate in,this guy allready has more money than any of us will in our entire lives, the ones who will suffer are the men & women who work hard at Kellogs, they will be the ones who if laid off, most likely will loose their jobs for life.

That petition is a black eye to pot smokers world wide, the way its written makes us all look like a bunch of couch riding loosers sitting around swilling down coco pebbles & pop tarts.

Hurting kellogs would be great but you or anybody else is dreaming if you think a boycott will hurt any corporation, this isnt just another silly thing to laugh & joke about ,your talking about destroying thousands of american families, thats the way it works, the kellogs corp will do exactly like loads of other corporations do when they fall on hard times, they lay off the work force then split for china & mexico, then what do you say to all the people who lost their carrers of 20 plus years, are they supposed to now make minumum wage because a small group of you guys thought it would be funny to write up a silly ass petition & boycott one of the last remaining american businesses that still pays employees over $50,000 a year pluss bennifits.

All of this over a millionare who signed conflict of interest clauses when he took their sponsorship money,a man who knew full well what would happen should he get caught,he agreed to live up to the standards kellogs expected when he took their money.

I have much the same clauses in my contracts with my employer,if they found out i was on RIU they could fire me on the spot,it would suck but i wouldnt try to take thousands of other workers jobs with me,this boycott is a terrible idea & not funny at all.

I agree that kellogs is fucked in the head & went too far needlessly but a boycott is not a smart move,or a labor friendly action when corporations are looking for excuses to leave the united states, what happens if this petition really has an impact & 10,000 us workers get laid off from its effects, what then ?

This is insanity man.. I myself would rather be home eating perfectly toatsed toaster struedels (Apple kind) than be at work making 8 bux an hour.. U can deliver pizzas a few hours a day and double that..
On another note tho.. I do agree with panhead.. I wouldnt want to see families out of work and fodd and things its terrible.. But in some states unemployement rates to top of at almost tripple of what a part time 8 dollar an hour worker makes so i dunno..
Ill see this one out..

In Battle Creek Michigan where Kellogs is based its a scene much like in Flint,Saginaw & Detroit, utter economic devastation from over 500,000 high paid skilled manufacturing jobs leaving the country,in Saginaw GM shut down 4 factories eleminating about 100,000 liveable wage jobs, these parts are still being made but in mexico,in Flint GM closed another 6 factories costing another 250,000 jobs,in one case they tore down one factory, permenantly laid off 9,000 hourly workers, then built a new factory in its place & manned the factory with less than 600 workers,Detroit is in the process of loosing several hundred thousand more jobs right now.

The economic blight & devastation is mind numbing in michigan, either people make a yearly wage here of $50,000 & above or they suffer & make $8 an hour & live in poverty,Kellogs is one of the employers in the state who takes care of its employees, pays them decent wages where men & women make a living where they can afford to pay college tuition for their children, make house payments on time, buy new cars, buy electronics from best buy ect,Kellogs also invests heavily in the maintainance of their buildings with liveable wage making union construction companies, they also sponsor several programs where the kellogs corp donates heavily to helping needy families get food & warm clothing, they also have a program where they give back to the community at xmas by giving children in poverty a xmas dinner plus preseants, kellogs is an employer who works to make Michigan a better place.

Kellogs isnt an employeer that shits on people & they prove that year after year by giving back generously,my state desperately needs the high paying jobs that kellogs provides its employee base,im glad some members here on riu are taking the time to think of the repercutions of a boycott before blindly rushing to sign a petition for a fellow smoker who is allready a millionare.

I dont agree at all with Kellogs decision,i personally think its a chickern shit move but if we all look at it from their stand point what else can they do,after all this involves the devils weed for god's sake, imagine what the media would do to kellogs if they just sat idly by & did or said nothing,im pretty sure the outcome would be a media shit storm against kellogs just for the sake of sensationalism in their reporting.

My views are that we should blame the government for making such a harmless substance as our beloved herb a pariah, then enacting unjust & cruel punishmnts tword all its users in order to set an example so they can keep the big business of assett seizure profits rolling in.

I also think we should blame the media, they have taken a stance where they latch on to these stories, then exploit them using bullshit sensationalism reporting methods to attract veiwers instead of honest reporting methods, between the media with all their hype bullshit they pull out of their hat's on every marijuana story & our governments choice to fight tooth & nail to hold on to the outdated & unjust laws governing marijuana use in our country therein lies the ones to blame, not an employeer who would have been surely skewered by the media for not taking action when a known drug user they are sponsoring has his picture on a box of Wheaties ceral.

Thanks for taking the time to think it through before signing this bullshit petition, the employees at kellogs in my state need their jobs desperately.
