No you need "FLAT" based Paint! That is a primer difference in mixture and reflectiveness. FLAT paint is best for painting walls for a better reflection rate.

go buy a dozen emergency blankets at walmart.. probably a buck a piece and pretty large. they are in the camping section with the junky hatchets, emergency whistles, etc.

i bet its cheaper, easier, and reflects more light.

Flat white paint is used best for diffusion of light with high intensity lighting.

Smooth metal(aluminum, mainly) is used for high-efficiency (not diffused) reflection. Dimples/texturing are added for diffusion.

CFLs don't require diffusion. HIDs lamps can.

Reflectors are one issue(within inches of the light, high reflectance). Light intensity is inversely proportional to distance. It doesn't really matter when your reflector is outside the amount of *lux* or *ft candles* useful for plants(even those these are somewhat inadequate quantifiers). Basically, you're reflecting light the plants are 'ignoring'/not receiving enough of to do anything useful with.

So your saying i dont need a reflector with CFLS?

you could put a coat of that primer on before you paint with the flat white paint if needed. it will help your paint get a better coverage.

a reflector is a good idea and will help use all available light, but depending on your grow op and number of cfl's its up to you.

OOO VERY NICE. i am using y spiltter and a surge protector so not much space for a reflect on the lights... u think an aluminum Tray/turkey pan would be a good idea?

yes it will work but its not pollished for reflecting but maybe you can paint it white also. you should be ok to paint it with reg. paint with those cfl's but if your gonna use a hps or mh i would get high temp. white paint.

a couple other options some of that aluminum flashing for roofs. it looks polished but i would pait it.
a 4" or 6" aluminum pipe for vents. it comes split down the middle lengthwise. instead of snapping it together to make it round, bend it backwards and it will turn into a batwing reflector. i would paint that also.

im going to get some high temp white paint for my hps reflectors so i will use that for my cfl reflectors as well. better safe than sorry right.
