Sounds like you have some issues to deal with. You need someone to talk to, and I'm deadly serious there. Talk to someone. :peace:

I can see why you have lost your objectivity....

Of course the person who set up the war was Clinton by his inaction.
Sometimes good people die because of inaction...always a danger. This particular danger has now increased many fold.

it makes me think him and Maxthc are the same person. Go read one of max's frothing rabid posts and compare.
He's pretty far out there

"knock at the door" Woman answers the door.

Little kid says, "can max come out and play?
Mother: "why you know max has no arms or legs"
Kid: "yah, we know, but we need a home plate"

I think Max took one too many slides with cleats.

Can anybody else read this? If so why did you waste your time trying so hard? Is your space bar broken bro?

A penguin walks into a bar and the bartender says, 'hey, I have drink named after you". The penguin says, "wow, you have a drink named Fred"?

These chains of metal particles look so much like real, living animals, it is hard not to think of them as alive. (See exclusive video below.) But they are actually bits of metal that came together under the influence of a specially tuned magnetic field.
The problem with that is that it does not fit the definition of life.
Conventional definition: The consensus is that life is a characteristic of organisms that exhibit all or most of the following phenomena:[9][10]

  1. Homeostasis: Regulation of the internal environment to maintain a constant state; for example, electrolyte concentration or sweating to reduce temperature.
NOPE

  1. Organization: Being structurally composed of one or more cells, which are the basic units of life.
NOPE

  1. Metabolism: Consumption of energy by converting chemicals and energy into cellular components (anabolism) and decomposing organic matter (catabolism). Living things require energy to maintain internal organization (homeostasis) and to produce the other phenomena associated with life.
NOPE

  1. Growth: Maintenance of a higher rate of synthesis than catabolism. A growing organism increases in size in all of its parts, rather than simply accumulating matter. The particular species begins to multiply and expand as the evolution continues to flourish.
DEBATABLE

  1. Adaptation: The ability to change over a period of time in response to the environment. This ability is fundamental to the process of evolution and is determined by the organism's heredity as well as the composition of metabolized substances, and external factors present.
NOPE

  1. Response to stimuli: A response can take many forms, from the contraction of a unicellular organism to external chemicals, to complex reactions involving all the senses of higher animals. A response is often expressed by motion, for example, the leaves of a plant turning toward the sun (phototropism) and chemotaxis.
PROBABLY NOT

  1. Reproduction: The ability to produce new organisms. Reproduction can be the division of one cell to form two new cells. Usually the term is applied to the production of a new individual (either asexually, from a single parent organism, or sexually, from at least two differing parent organisms), although strictly speaking it also describes the production of new cells in the process of growth.
NOPE

My point was, even though it isn't life, it could be a way to figure out how chemicals organize themselves.

Defensive much?

Did you even read the whole article or did you just go through it searching for something to quote out of context?

"We still don't know what physics is appropriate for biology. This is a wonderful intermediate,"

"This is physics for the fun of physics."

No one even attempted to claim this was life. The most they said is this may model certain things in biological systems. Seems the scientists are less apt to jump to conclusions than the people that seem to oppose them.

I read the entire thing, but if you're going to attack some one for taking it out of context, perhaps you'll attack Stony for taking it totally out of context and trying to apply it to the arguments of ID vs Creationism.

But it does apply, Brutal. If we can figure out why this metal is acting in this manner, perhaps we can discover why other chemicals may form complex chains and react in the ways they do to certain stimuli. Then we may be able to figure out, eventually, what exact chemical reaction caused life to begin. So yeah, it applies.

Nice false dichotomy you present.
Try again.

I don't think it is possible for Brutal to agree with anyone . . . .
No, I agree with a lot of people, just not 100%.

And no, even if we figure out why the metal is behaving that way, it only defines the behavior of nickle in fields of high magnetism.

Which does not explain how life originated on this planet.

There's always the possibility that life originates some where else in the cosmos, and was carried here by a meteor.

Besides, there's massive differences between nickle, and the components of life, which are mostly Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen and Nitrogen.

Of course, if you can actually find a non-carbon based life form, maybe you'll actually have a stronger argument regarding this experiment having anything to do with life.

Though I doubt that you'll find a life form that is entirely one element.

It's just an interesting physics experiment.

There's not even enough detail in the article to say that it's anything more than that.

Oh, never mind, I'm tired of explaining things over and over. It's about the behavior of the metal in certain conditions. The behavior of chemicals in certain conditions is tantamount to figuring out why life formed, and how.
