alright so i posted the construction of my grow cab and about the first week of starting. you can find that here.. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/183995-trunk5s-400watt-stealth-grow-cab.html

this is my first true attempt so there will be many questions but i promise not to ask the same thing twice. as of now the plants are on there 4th day under cfl's in the rapid rooter plugs. im wondering if i should move them to soil befor the roots start jutting out all over. or does it look like i should wait another day?? thank you guys for all questions, comments, and answers. this picture was takin about 2 hours ago.

ok well i decited to just go ahead and throw 6 of them into soil. and i took the dome off to lower the lights, idk if its just me but they looked a little streched for only 3 days old. the temp is staying at 78.2 and now here are a few pics.

alrighty checked on them again this morning and the soil was dry so i gave them each a 1/4 cup of water. this allows for slight run off in these containers. i have a question for you guys tho, do you think it is safe to put them under a mh light yet, or should i let them chill under the cfl's for a little bit longer? here are some pics.

ok another question i finally fired up my mh to take the exact temp reading with my digi therm, and it was at 94.3 degree now how much do i have to lower the temp in the box? looking for number to go by.. cuz tomarrow im going to pick up the few fans i do need for the light hood and upgrade the 80mm to 120mm's. basicly just looking for a good average temp to keep. thank you guys in advance. btw the plants are still up top under the cfl's.

well guys at last i have finally fixed my heat issue i got the temp down from 94.7 to 85.5/86 flat with the light on. so i put the little ones down there to see what happens over night. ill have pics in the morning to see if they lived and flourished in there new home under the mh, or will they suffer a terrible fate. we will see. yeah and how i fixed everything was i upgraded to all 6 inch venting that 4 inch stuff was no good....

yeah, what i was seeing was the plants not being able to give off enough water, so the leaves wanted to back away from the lights. so i put them back under the cfl's. the bigest one was doing ok in the bottom chamber but i want the rest to catch up.

the big one looks really gud. i think u shud keep them under cfl's for a week or two until the are ready for a bit more harshness. most of them look alright. dnt worry lol

i agree with kash, direct light from an HID may be a little to intense for seedlings. plus fluoros are so much cheaper:P
i like to let my pots dry out after the plant sprouts, the roots go searching for water and they develop a little quicker.
i keep my veg room on a 24/0, but thats just due to lack of timer. my seedlings grow like crazy under 24hrs, but i wouldnt know the diff.

good that u got ur heating prob solved, i have a 400w closet and my temps never go over 90 just with one 4" pc fan and one oscillating fan. what are ur outdoor temps around there?
mind you, my closet has an hps and its a little cooler.

yeah this is my first actual grow, not just some hey plant a seed and see what happens. so this is a learning exp for me. i had them on 24/0 for a good 5 days. then tryed the mh with no avail and then threw them under the cfl and started 20/4 so they could get root growth. so far the 4 hours seems to help. as the plants i thought were going to die are coming back to life. the problem with my cab was it wasnt drawing enough air out of the bottom compartment, i made the ducting bigger and it helped a lot. im sure with a few more tweeks i can get the temp lower then 86 under the mh, also im sure the hps with be less heat when i switch to flower. as for floros i need to grab higher wattage bulbs for thoes lamps if i can find any, if not ill add another one or two. thank you guys for all your advise and knolege. with out further ado here are some pics.

It could be that you are over watering which releases the nutes/ferts in the soil to quickly. Wait until the soil is BONE dry all the way before you water. That will makes the plants stronger and have a better root system because the drying will cause the roots to grow in search of water.

As long as the new growth is light green then you are fine.

One more thing is the actual PH of the water. If you switched water sources you might have unknowingly changed the PH as well, which is stressful on young plants.

I hope this helps:joint:

yeah i was watering once every other day or untill it was dry about an inch down, these are small cups there in. im keeping the ph of the water around 6-6.5, idk i just tryed flushing them to see if it was a salt build up and now ill just let them do there thing and dry out. just have to keep an eye on them. thank you for the advise. ill keep you guys posted.

ok the flushing and lettign them dry out seemed to work im still not gunna water them for a few days but there is new veg growing and its a nice green color. i think it was my soil burning the plants. no lie FFOF is serious stuff. but here are some pics of how they are doing now.

U shud try to check the roots and see if they still have any space left. If u can see a good root system then u shud transplant it and wait a few days for them to get used to new pot and then put them under mH light. u shud keep the mh light far at first and then slowly move it closer while checkin the temps etc... idk about the shriveled leaves. they grown a lot since last time i saw them u know lol
