lol mared, true! I have a question. Cuz i think im using like springfield power plant runoff radiated water here. How many leaves SHOULD a seedling have when it leaves its shell.

Cuz out of the ones so far, 2 have had 2 sets of leaves. And a new sprout that is growing fucken FAST has 3...weird. lol

Even the mutant one only had 2 to begin, then just grew weird after that..probably from stress...this seedling lost its shell husk and sprouted with 3 straight off the bat...and 3 smooth milk leaves, not 2 smooth and one textured...

Mared mate, hope its cool i requested to be friends...Dunno what this does except lets people know we "know" each other...but yea lol

So far the white label DG are taking of pretty good..Time will tell!

I got my seeds from seedmadness.com they have multiple options as far as shipping and stealth is concerned, and they were out of stock on part of my order..so they shipped what they had to me, and sent the second half when it came in, with no extra delivery charge to me, AND they gave me free seeds...even though i knew it was out of stock when i ordered...how cool is that.

I was impressed thats for sure.

My plant is the one that looks all mangled on the first few pages...ill take a few pics tomorrow. Its looking much better now...nice shade of green, perky and growth everwhere...

Seedlings usually start with one set of two leaves that are very small with one section which is rounded on the end. Those are the cotyledons. They are meant to get the plant started growing and then they die off usually. After that the leaves should begin emerging in sets of two with pointy-tipped sections (fingers). The first set will most likely have leaves with three fingers and the next will have five, then seven, and finally the rest should have nine. But it doesn't always happen like that. Sometimes even a perfectly healthy plants will have some weirdo leaves here and there. Heat stress or ph imbalance however will cause deformities that aren't healthy, which may be what you have. It's okay though because the plant still "knows" how to grow properly. Its DNA is still there telling the cells how to replicate but there is some condition not allowing it to do so. You just need to give it the right conditions to grow properly for a few days and it will straighten itself out. Sometimes I clone plants that have been in flower for a while. When they start to regrow it is the most twisted, messed up looking growth you can imagine. The plant has to switch from flower mode back to veg and the leaves will grow all curly and crinkly and with varying numbers of fingers. It looks ugly for about a week but sure enough every time they will begin to grow normally again. Just know that as long as a leaf is green it will feed the plant no matter what the shape.

+rep for that, I always read about people cutting off the weird leaves, and Ive thought about it...it was my understanding of that same fact that stopped me...


One of my sprouts have 3 cotyledons. It has 2 in the normal configuration, then one folded in the middle.

The new plants..and even the old one now have had NO stress what so ever. The seedlings are kept at exactly 25 degrees, in a damp/wet environment till they crack, then planted in jiffy plugs till they are open for business.

I really dig the Sunmaster Bulbs!

I have a 400 watt SM - MH Neutral Deluxe and it is a great Metal Halide Bulb. When my HPS wears out Im going Sunmaster for that as well.

Thanks man, Yea i reckon the SM bulbs are pretty good, Never heard of anyone comparing them to anything better...perhaps hortilux might be better? Im not sure if i can get hortilux here and SM do fine as far as i am concerned .

Ok guys heres some pics. I definitely have a triploid.

The triploid is growing so fast man. Like it only cracked 2 days ago. I planted it in a jiffy pot yesterday...this morning BAM root through the bottom of the jiffy pot.

Anyways, see pics. Old plant is looking kickass too on new growth .

The babies look a little yellow as the hps is reflecting off the grow room door onto them, thats why its only a small bit of yellow.

All of my plants are lush green now.

I think ive turned this around now. Im no longer tempted to fiddle or water or anything...Check in on them in the morning and at night and a few times during the day to check temps etc...

Im gonna buy a moisture meter i think today so i can even get the watering right. Just a cheapie though.

In the pics you can see that the old plant has the retarded growth on the left? Half the leaf grows right the other half is weird?
Also the root is to the left, halfway up the jiffy pot...Its not huge but its definitely there.

Hehe, yep, although i didn't coin it...Apparently seeds with this trait were selling for like 20 grand for a pack of 10 at one point lol..and I got mine for free .

From what i understand its not a trait that marijuana has naturally, but was introduced by doping the taproot with a chemical. There were multiple types produced like this, i think the ones with 4 leaves were the most productive, boasting something lie 250% more thc, but a lot less of the other cannibaloids. Its growing SO fast though. It was sprouted more than a day after the other seedling, and already its much further matured.

Apparently they are prone to dying easily, and also might end up straightening itself out later in its life.

I dont mind, lol I think its cool to have

That's awesome man. You really lucked out. Definitely learn how to clone those plants. It looks like your other plant is growing triploid as well. It's just a bit contorted. I've had plants that do that for a few nodes or on one branch but never staight out of the gate like that. It means the tendency is strong and hopefully the entire plant will be like that. You will have 1/3 more budsites per node vs normal plants. My triploid plants have always been high yielders. Looking good man!

YA thats what i thought! I'm heaps happy . Gonna start work on a seperate clone chamber tomorrow...I love DIY stuff

I love how fast the little triploid is growing..I just need to do the right thing from now on...and gardening is absolutely awesome as a training tool to teach us self control... Im on board for the plants schedule now. I love it.

sorry to but in,,, but after seeing you guys talk about leafs,, i thought i might share this,,
we all know about fan leaves,, but i have posted about this,, and NO ONE seems to know the answer,,
my genetics are feminized G-13haze.
i have a "weird" growth on some of the fan leaves.
under microscope,, u can see a bunch of tricomes,, which i assumed should be on the flowers.
but this weird little growth on the big ole fan leaves has me (and others) baffeled.

That is a mutation that I've had as well. The leaf will grow normally but it will have an extra small finger grow out of the middle. I've actually seen it a few times and not just on my plants. No cause for worry. The more leaf surface area the better!

Thanks for the rep derby, and if the arrows pointing at the leaf then yea, its weird hey..like the plant decided what the hell we can fit another leaf here lets do it lol...
IF the arrow is pointing at the trich, I dunno if theres usually that many on fan leaves, but theres usually some int there? lol...yours are pretty well covered by them haha..definitely make use of your cuttings man. Bake some cookies or make some hash!

I cant wait till my plants show sex and start triching up lol.

Update on the plants:
Ive named the triploid trippy. (trip from triploid..bu if all goes well ill be trippin when i smoke her so trippy works)
Trippy is growing pretty quick, like it hasnt got any full sets of leaves or anything yet lol, but its plodding along and the first set of leaves are well and truly ahead of the other seedling. Ill call this one t-bag lol. Cuz its BAG seed and i got it off a mate whos name starts with a T.
T-bag is doing ok..first set of leaves are coming out, just slower than trippy.

So i just finished the flowering chamber. Pics next time i do a pic update. Now I feel like im on the right track.

The triploid seed was really small i think. I also had a really huge one, thats cracked this morning! I wonder what will pop out of this one! Anyone want to put in guesses?

omg i am a hippie!

I took my plants outside today...and humanised them a little to myself saying i was letting them "play in the sun"...well as i was putting missy (the first, tortured plant that is my test subject) has pistils. Remember i had her in 12/12....well i thought shes a girl cool....and i looked at one of her little tiny baby leaves and its the cutest little 5 fingered leaf haha....her first set of 5. proud moment lol.

shes due to be wateed tomorrow. Shes getting a plain water (correct ph) tomorrow id say, soil was a bit moist still today and i wanted to water but didnt...i reminded myelf of my revelation regarding the plant growing itself and put the water down lol. Its leave are perky and the soil is a little moist after a few cm..so when i see her get a little droopy ill water.
