I'm gonna say that bleach is probably not a good thing to put in your reservoir. H202 worked pretty good when I had stem rot. Also, males and females come mostly from genes, different strategies should only increase or decrease your chances minutely. Last, 6.5 is pretty high for pH. 5.7 is optimal.
This is all based on my experience and also my research. I would suggest looking for more information before I would try anything that he just stated.
First off no offense to you EeeKAmouse but i think i am good with what i have going. This is actually the biggest aerogrow i have seen. I might have missed one or two but i have seen lots on here. I have my res temps around 70 they never and i mean never reach over 75. This seems to work great with what i have. I have three stones in the tank all together. The stock one, a 8" bubble wand powered by a dual outlet pump for a 100 gal aquarium as well as a single stone located directly in the center powered by a 20 gal tank pump. I have plenty of o2 running in there. At this time i am not suffering from root rot. I have been there and learned how to deal with that and i have been fine ever since. I have a trick to how I feed that has worked out like a charm never fluxuates in pH, and promotes fast rapid growth.
The only time i had RR was a while back and that was my fault. Res temps got nasty and i had a bad case. I cleaned em up with FF big bloom as a root drench and cleaned out all the grime and they have been snow white ever since. (you would be shocked at how much your roots can take when cleaning out fungus)
Root Rot is not my concern, development of foliage and a good root system is. i have found my way to keep it stable and hope this turns out some decent smoke.
But thanks for the concern
