what about returned food for you from your animal? my cat would gift me dead animals it had hunted down on its own it enjoyed eating them but would give to the rest of its family over itself. thats a form of love plain and simple. or i read about this dog in england that was owned by a police officer when he died the dog would walk the same route it used to with its owner and would them visit the grave sight it did this for many years until it died. obviously this had no basis on its need to survive or food another example of love there are so many documented examples like that.

Your cat loves to be petted because it creates a static electricty in its fur.
A dog will pull you out of a burning building to protect it's primary food source.
As far as religion being the reason I think animals can't love, try again, I'm very atheist. Dissection of the brain has proven that anmals do not have the portion of there brain that controls emotion.

"i'm sorry to say, my cat loves me. that's all there is to it."

That sounds exactly like "There's god in heaven, and no matter how many times science proves it wrong it's still there."

A soul? It has emotions but it doesn't have a soul? Do you know the definition soul?

the emotional part of human nature; the seat of the feelings or sentiments

lmao.....ur joking right? u cant/dont really believe in the bible? its all so fraudulent......god may exist but religion is a scam
spirituality is one thing but religion and the bible is for fools always remember other men just like you wrote that book.:wall:
why the headbanging? im assuming its cuz of what he said about the bible saying animals=no souls and not my post cuz you and i said the exact same things pretty much. lol
I believe everything in the bible ( new testament). You wanna go around not believing in jesus thats your problem. But bashing me cause of what I believe in is wrong. If it states that animals don't have souls and thats what I believe then why bash someones opinion? All i asked was that how can something with no soul love? The last thing I would bash are cats seeing as most of the intelligent people on this board own cats and I'd hate to go up against them because they are very cool people. I ask them for advice and their there to answer me in a heartbeat. Make no mistake im not dissing cats, it was just a question, :peace: :joint:

Yes HUMAN nature not animal nature. How can an animal have human feelings? Like I said lets just drop it cause it's turning into a flame war instead of a discussion...

my girlfriend and i have 3 cats 2 dogs 3 chickens 2 pigeons and a guinea pig, they all love us,and as for feeding them being the reason for them loving us, i disagree, the only one i ever feed is my dog.ive never once feed the pigeons and they will fly down off the roof of the house if i call them and land on me,i offer them nothing but my company, and i dont touch them just let them sit on me,both of them were full grown when we got them and neither of them were tame.if they dont have emotions them whats the point?why would they bother?
I think all animals have a lot more capacity for emotions than science gives them credit for, brain size has nothing to do with intelligence, otherwise whales would be the smartest, and its not about brain size vs body size, otherwise chihuahuas would be genius's,crows have tiny little brains but can design, build, and use tools on a level equal to a chimpanzee.
But honestly if your cats loves you,you will know by the look in its eyes ,and the drool hanging from the corners of its mouth.

a soul is your conscience ,and the church playing on emotions
The church playing on emotions? That's just ludicrous. I can't believe people walk around thinking this. This is not the right thread or board anyway so lets just drop it. I walk with Jesus daily but I am not allowed to preach his name to get attention as that's against his teachings. when I pray I pray to myself behind closed doors so he can hear me and reward me for doing the right thing.

Show me one post on here where I've flamed someone. In fact, I don't think anyone has flamed anyone on this thread yet..... This thread IS turnin into a stupid religious debate pretty quick though.... Why are people arguing religion in Tokentalk in the first place? Not like you're going to change someone's religion....

how exactly do you know about animals brain capacity?

i'm sorry to say, my cat loves me. that's all there is to it. i know what love is and my cat shows it. if anything she "loves" to be protected and fed by me.

only humans love. A HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ha ha
Sure if you want to think you "Love" your wife because of anything more then a hormone imbalance in your brain, then keep on thinkin that.

your side sounds just as lame.

so what part of the brain exactly holds love and what does it look like.

"i'm gonna starve if i don't drag bob out of here." sounds like some very "reasonable thinking". so dogs can't love, but they can reason.

love is based around conscious thinking and recognition of an individual outside yourself.

cats and dogs don't even recognize individuality.

it may be some sort of caring, but it's certainly not the same as /our/ definition of love.

it's simply impossible.

Cats definetely prefer certain people over others, and I don't know how to explain that other than they do feel some sort of emotion toward people. My cat for example, will go and hide if someone it doesn't know comes into my place. On the other hand she gets all excited and 'cuddly' when either me or my girlfriend comes in, or anybody else she's comfortable around. I don't know if that warrants love, or just trust but the cat is making it's own decisions about who it lets near it.
havent got time to read the whole thread but i think this post sums it up nicely! + rep

Well, since you asked, it's called the amygdala. It's buried deep behind the frontal lobe and it's about the size of a cherry. in a human brain, and virtually non-existent in most animals brains (Excluding the primate, of course.)
Didn't you go to school to learn this stuff?
