Hi well i've asked few questions before hopefully this one will get answered can police see heat through infrared with a grow room set up with mylar all around and fans with ducting to and a squirrel cage fan

The general rule of thumb is one 1000Wer per bedroom you have in your house i believe... So if you hvae a two bedroom apartment or house you can run two 1000Wers without detection.. MAKE SURE YOU GET DIGITAL BALLASTS.. the energy used to start up magnetic ballasts equals 24 hours of continuous use of the light.. INCREDABLE.. the digital ballasts dont use anything NEAR that amount..

Anyway if you only have a one bedroom apartment i dont suggest two 1000Wers especially if your gonna have the meter spinning when the meter dude comes.. he can tip you off aswell .. kinda shady when noone home and the house is lit up like a fucking XMAS TREE... Also as someone else said cops cant use the radar to secure a warrent but they can use that info to find other ways to get it.. BASTARDS.. just keep it cool man.. do you really need two 1000's? For personal supply i think a 400 to 600 is sufficent.. even if you only run one 1000 i mean jeeze i know i dont need that much

Infrared cameras can't see through walls or ceilings (unless you have your grow room in a poorly insulated attic with tons of really hot lights). Anyone who tries to tell you different is seriously deluding themselves.

What they're looking for is hot air being vented out of a house from somewhere other than a dryer vent, so the obvious thing to do would be vent your hot air into another room, the crawlspace, or the dryer vent.

While technically they are supposed to have a warrant to do an infrared flyover, we all know that there are cops who don't play by the rules. Once they've seen the air venting out of your house, then they'll check with the electricity company to see if you're using substantially more juice than your neighbors. THEN they'll get a warrant and say that the electricity company tipped them off.

Pretty shady, if you ask me, but that's law enforcement for you.

Someone on another thread made a good point about flyovers and budget restraints. Most states are in such bad shape they're cutting back on just about everything this year, so maybe infrared flyovers will be on the chopping block, as well.

I never knew that. The grow area that was picked up at my friends down the road was the entire garage converted and vented straight out the side. The garage is not badly insulated, but like you say that veent right out the side, and on a garage might be even stranger.

The laws where I am allow for the choppers to fly overhead. Well again anyways, there was a huge court battle as to wether or not it was invasion of privacy, the cops won in court. On the news when they show what the cops could see at night was two shots. One of two people walking through the park (obvious you can see them) the other was a shot through a window of someone watching tv. So that explains that. Of course on the news they tell you that they can see the heat signitures of the lights through the rooves and that it lights up like a Christmas tree, but we all know the media never lies! Yeah right.

You are 100% wrong.

The cameras can only see differences in temp - they can not see thru walls or ceilings.
You can sit with a cutting tourch inside your house and it could not be seen unless you heated the walls or ceiling area to a temp. well above the ambiant tempratures.

You can talk all the bullshit you want, but I have run these cameras, and I know what I am talking about.

It seems people just make things up to see their posts.

Wow buddy, you seem to have some real anger management issues. Relax, if you don't want to answer you don't have to. Not everyone knows everything and that person was only asking because they don't know. A lot of people are worried about getting caught so they want to take every precaution they can, what's the big deal, just move on to the next thread and be done with it.

i dunno if its sarcasm but i dont think cops are going to fly as low as 6-7 floors around 2-3 apartment builidngs and im not that stupid to let people know

Infared dosen't have the ability to see through walls like Superman as most people believe, they can only see a hot spot radiation from your house if you use HID and have poor insulation. Police are also not supposed to be using infrared to just look for grow ops, the only reason a cop catches a grow op with infared is they were looking for a missing person or escape suspect and just happen to be in the neighborhood. 90% of grow ops are busted because of loose lips, they sink ships.

I'm surprised no one here ever figured this out I don't even use HID and I know to do this, but if you vent the air from your grow through the dryer vent then there will be nothing suspicious a infrared cop can even recognize.

depends on how thick your ceilings are, and how low and hot your grow rooms are, i mean if you have two 1000 watt lights that are right next to each other on the top floor of your house maybe you might set something off, but if its 2 of them in different areas and in your basement then there is a really low chance that they will see anything at all.

see thats what i was thinking something like that if your in an apartment building and like on say 7-8th floor and maybe apartment has like 10 floors or more there is so many floors with ppl living on them so there would be alot of heat right or you think apartments are built so that you wont even see the heat only way you can is from side ways?

Now I don't grow indoors, but I still peruse these threads because I find it all very interesting.

Okay, I think I have come up with a very clean and COMFORTABLE solution for getting rid of the hot air in the grow room. Buy a small a/c wall unit and draw the grow room air through the a/c and push it into another room.

Crazy??? Cool it and absorb it.

This is why I use cfls. My grow room during flower, with lights, fans, motors everything, uses at best 500 watts.

They are not watching watts, they look for heat patterns. They can see into attics and completely through mobile homes. The distinct shape of the grow-room light set-up is visible when the lights are on in most 1-story homes as well. Those MH & HPS bulbs are extremely hot. They also come back during different times to check and see if the lights are timed for growing. They know what we know people. They are prolly on this site and many others and they also read High Times. They may be dicks, but they're not totally stupid. At the same time, they may over-assume how many plants you have when flying over. They do this b/c they would think you could/would acually grow 10-20 plants per 1000w: then they get a warrant and raid!
