Wow, YOU are the guy i need to talk to. i want a degree in Biology. that is why i enrolled in school, and in fact RIU had a little to do with it. How was the road to getting that degree?Just graduated with a degree in Biology.
hey man, you probably don't realize how much this helped me. im going to add you as a friend, ill be asking you some questions trust me on that one haha. did you go to college straight out of highschool?I wanted to go into healthcare... my entire family has been in it (Doctor, Optometrist, Nurse, Dentist, Pharmacists). Biology is also the subject that I enjoy studying the most. I'm sorry, but crunching numbers all day just does not seem as interesting as learning more about the world around us/the human body. In school you will notice you have a lot more work compared to say a business major, simply b/c OChem, General Chem, Physics, etc are so in depth. The biology classes were never really that difficult for me however. You will also learn to hate having labs for 4 - 8 hours a week on top of your other classes. Having this major has also helped me tremendously as I prepare to take my "super fun test" tomorrow to determine if/where I will go to Grad school.
If this isn't what you were looking for, feel free to message me anytime with other questions.
do you have/are you going to get a job with your newly aquired degree? did you already have one set up before you graduated college?Yah, I went straight to school. Taking this next year off to work and save up money for grad school though.
So you have been in college for 4 years.. and now you are going to grad school for another 2 years? damn.. is it really that impossible to get a job with that degree? In all honesty, I haven't even looked into getting a job based solely upon my Biology degree. The degree itself isn't worth too much without further education - Masters, PhD, Med/Dental/Opt/Pharmacy School, from what I have seen at least. Just working as a personal trainer for this next year to get by.
Grad school for me will be 4 more years... I wouldn't say its impossible to find one (I never really looked, b/c I knew I wanted to go back to school anyways), but it definitely is not easy. Even outside of the sciences, everyone other than engineers, for the most part, will have to go back and get their masters at some point... accounting, MBA, finance, etc to not hinder themselves from advancing to their maximum potential. So you have been in college for 4 years.. and now you are going to grad school for another 2 years? damn.. is it really that impossible to get a job with that degree?
