I wanted to go into healthcare... my entire family has been in it (Doctor, Optometrist, Nurse, Dentist, Pharmacists). Biology is also the subject that I enjoy studying the most. I'm sorry, but crunching numbers all day just does not seem as interesting as learning more about the world around us/the human body. In school you will notice you have a lot more work compared to say a business major, simply b/c OChem, General Chem, Physics, etc are so in depth. The biology classes were never really that difficult for me however. You will also learn to hate having labs for 4 - 8 hours a week on top of your other classes. Having this major has also helped me tremendously as I prepare to take my "super fun test" tomorrow to determine if/where I will go to Grad school.

If this isn't what you were looking for, feel free to message me anytime with other questions.

In all honesty, I haven't even looked into getting a job based solely upon my Biology degree. The degree itself isn't worth too much without further education - Masters, PhD, Med/Dental/Opt/Pharmacy School, from what I have seen at least. Just working as a personal trainer for this next year to get by.

So you have been in college for 4 years.. and now you are going to grad school for another 2 years? damn.. is it really that impossible to get a job with that degree?

Grad school for me will be 4 more years... I wouldn't say its impossible to find one (I never really looked, b/c I knew I wanted to go back to school anyways), but it definitely is not easy. Even outside of the sciences, everyone other than engineers, for the most part, will have to go back and get their masters at some point... accounting, MBA, finance, etc to not hinder themselves from advancing to their maximum potential.

Congrats!
And yes, Organic Chemistry sucks... And as for Chemistry, overall, Learn the fucking Acid/Base shit... that keeps coming back to fucking haunt you!
I've also got a Bachelor of Science degree. Starting Graduate School this fall! I love reading about tokers having degrees/higher education :-) I hate the "If u smokes da weed, u is become sto0pid" stereotype.
There are some of us that can toke daily and still get A's in Organic Chemistry! Like everything in life, you have to get to know yourself and how you react to MJ. Don't abuse it and you can do ANYTHING anyone else can do! Be smart, though... In college you meet a lot of dumb people who like to party a lot... Make sure to remember that it's better to do the work when you're in college and party for the rest of your life, than the other way around... My 2 cents...

Healthcare - Optometry.

In all honesty the area of Biology that I know the least about is Botany. This is mainly because the classes that I took geared me up for going into a healthcare field: Anatomy, Developmental Bio, Physiology, etc. Talk to your professors, your advisors, grad students, etc who have first hand experience in whatever field you are specifically looking into. They will tell you what you can expect, how to succeed, what classes to take, etc.
