Male on Female Relations?

Hey guys and gals,


My grow is going pretty good so far. Started flowering about a week ago. I have at least 2 females out of 4 plants. While 4 females would be nice I am hoping for one male to pollinate with so I can build my seed stock. I don't like ordering seeds through the mail if I can help it. I only have one seed left from this strain so I really hope I can get some seeds. What I am wondering is how long I need to leave the males in to pollinate. I want to be sure the girls get knocked up but if I can free up some room for the ladies to take in more light that would be great. TIA

Thanks but I have read that and have found no answer to my question other than it needs four weeks before harvest to make sure seeds develop fully. As to forced pollination methods I would rather let mother nature do the work seeing as how this is my first real indoor grow. I am trying to leave all the advanced techs to future grows. Thanks anyways though.

Do you have a fan blowing on them? If you are growing indoors that makes you mother nature. When you grow inside you control the environment. The fan will blow the pollen around and pollinate the females. The balls or pods fall of when they are ready to pollinate i believe. Im not for sure because I never let the males live that long but i think it drops the balls.

Yeah I do have fans. I know I am father nature so I am the one who gets to play god. Normally I would ditch the males upon identification but I need to up my seed stock. I plan to start a clone cycle when I get my own house in a year or so. I guess I will wait to see the pollen sacks drop. That would be a pretty good indication that the pollen has been released. Thanks for the insight.

If you allow mother nature to pollinate your plants, you will have pollinated weed. All of it. But if you want this, just leave the males in with the females the males pods look like bananas.

I am only doing it for seed stock. Otherwise I would junk the males. I will do this will all three strains I have so I don't lose them. I don't sell so the first grow of each strain will be seeded but I don't mind.Still have two plants that are not showing yet that I can tell.

when ur male pollen sack burst open.. take the one female FAR away from the other and shake the male plant all over the female so the pollen gets all over it!!
make sure u serperate the female u want WITHOUT seeds form the female ur pollenating !!!

That would be nice to be able to only seed one girl. How long should I leave the one I seeded away from the others? Do you think a dark cycle in another room would prevent it from getting pollen on the others? Thanks for the idea.

yes... its gotta be in a whole different room..you should only do this when ur female has alot of bud cuzz once u pollenate the female it stop producing buds and focus all the growth on seeds.. so mke sure u got a decent amont on it ..
jus keep ur sinsemilla (female with NO seeds) in one room..move the other female in a different 12/12 room

kill the male after u pollenate...if u want . or u could leave it with it..

keep the male in a serperate area and when the pollen pods open, cut that boy down and keep all the pollen from the plant in a bag in your freezer. when ever you need seeds take a female to a separate room (important to prevent accidents) and rub a feather in some pollen. then tickle certain buds that you want to have seeds in them.

So if I were to just leave them in the same room and let it happen by itself will the pollen pods open up when the buds are starting to form or when they have already bulked up pretty good. I would hate to kill my yield in favor of getting some seeds.

It looks like I might have to change my gameplan. I only have one room currently and it would be pretty tough to get another especially 12/12 to separate them and keep growing both. Not to mention lights. I could go buy some red spectrum cfl's to throw in one of my cfl veg hoods and put the male in there since I don't care how it grows save for making pollen. I need one of those grow tents or something. What a pain in the ass this is going to turn out to be. I'll give it my best shot though.

I am really torn cuz I really want to get some seeds so I can keep this strain for a later date but I am really depending on as big a yield as possible so I can have smoke until another full grow is completed. Will be growing ak-48 next.

basically, keep the male plant alive and flowering untill the pollen capsules open.

sounds like an accurate game plan to me.
if you leave the male in the room and those pods open, all your weed will be seeded and potency will be cut in half immediately, guaranteed. if you pollinate several buds youll have seeds in only those buds. (unless u screw up and drop pollen all over the plant like i did my first time.
basically your male is about to drop a shit load of dust in the air. consider it as poision to your plants if it gets on them unintentionally while flowering. You can use it, just be carefull not to seed your whole crop.
oh and dont fuck with the male and then go to the ladies. pollen can stick to clothes, you and can be spread around bu the air around it so keep in a different room.
