So Plant #1 is a male.

I knew I had to kill him, so i went for a clone attempt: cutted down 4 fan leaves and cloned it.

It worked: leaves didn't die, but of course they had no new growth. Thrown 'em away after a month (sorry I have no pics of that).

Here are some pics of plant #2 on day 53: still vegging...





Plant #2 (sex is still unknown) seems definitely stronger than plant #1 (the male one), altough it's shorter - but shorthness may be because it's just younger.

The pots you're seeing in the pictures of around day 50, are 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter.

The plant #2 is in a pot sized 16 cm (6.3 inches) actually.

I'm thinking of transplanting one more time, very soon.

A brief recap.

I had plant #1 turned out male, and plant #2 younger but still in vegging.

One evening I moved the male in another room, away from plant #2.

And, the morning after... surprise!
The first male flower bloomed, opened and released his pollen!

Phew... just in time!!!

Say goodbye to the male (plant #1)... this is its last picture. Killed on day #67.



I even tried to dry pollen sacks and leaves.
Smoking leaves was a waste (and they tasted bad), pollen had a better flavour... but no considerable effect.

what are you doing why did you let the male pollinate the female? and smoking males balls it taboo hahaha

So plant #2 was still in vegging in its day 59 (while the male showed sex in day 46 and bloomed in day 67).

The plant is doing fine, and strengthing up: getting bushier and showing first signs of growth on the branches.

Branches are still growing in pairs at the moment.

Nooo I didn't let the male pollinate the female, sorry for the misunderstanding!

I moved the male away the day before his first flower opened, indeed the other plant was still in vegging stage.

hahaha now I know. I tought: why don't give it a try? The worst that can happen, is that it is pointless... :D

P.s. indeed this is my very first grow: I'm learning from the basics :P

Picture post time!

Here you can check the growing of the female plant.

Day 66, and you start seeing the typical 7-bladed leaves:



In this pic she is around 40-45 cm I guess (15-17 inches)




Day 68, and this is what I mean with "indoor growing with sunlight":





She's facing a strong sunlight in early june:



Day 69: overview of the growth (she is about 55-60 cm now, 21-23 inches)



Day 78: keeping growing... sunny day everyday! In the following pic she is around 75 cm (30 inches)



In this period she was growing like crazy!
I feared she would turn out 8+ feet if she keeped that speed!

I read everything about cloning.

Rooting hormones, rockwool, 24/0 light regime, lid to keep humidity, take clones in veg time...

Let me say: you don't need that!

Well, I suppose these things HELPS, but me say they are definitely NOT MANDATORY.

This is the way I cloned (three times, with a 100% success rate)

- choose an healthy branch at the bottom of the plant
- prepare a wet soil with an hole
- take a clean cut, 45 degrees angle
- dip the cut in the soil
- for the first week, water often and avoid too many hours of direct sunlight

A pic of the first fresh clone:



Expect the leaves to be droopy after 1 hour from cut - they will recover in a day or two indeed.

Here are some more pics of the plant growing.

I had to transplant her in a bigger pot, too.




It's funny because one day the window made the plant fall off onto the ground from an height of 70 cm (30 inches), the pot went broke and I took the chance to transplant.



Falling, some branches were damaged (but not til death), so I recovered them by bending to nearby undamaged branches.



The branches fully recovered and healed, and now my plant is happy! I only lost one in a subsequent knock, but you have to take something like this into account, I think. No worries here.

Anyway, she went from around 85 cm (33 inches) to 1 meter (37 inches), and the new branches were growing new leaves set.
New bud sites were forming on the branches, too.

Few days back I noticed little yellow spots here and there on some leaves.

I didn't worry too much, until the spots increased in number.

I checked out carefully, and the inspection allowed to discover minuscles bastards that were eating my plant all over!

In the pic you see both the aphid and the damage it did to the plant (yellow spots):

I sprayed with bifenthrin and the aphids died. I still have unrecoverable yellow spots on leaves formed before day 100.

It's funny as hell to reproduce plants via cloning and keep our loved ones around, so the day after the aphids attack I took a third clone:



You can see the fresh 3rd clone on the upper right corner, and the second clone (8 days old) in the bottom left corner, in the pot marked with "II".

New growth for Clone II as well!

A friend of mine, another grower, came to my house and saw my plant.

He teached me how to LST.

He told me: simply take those branches in full bloom, and gently but firmly bend them down. Rinse and repeat, until they stay in the shape/direction you want.

I did it and now my bud sites are getting tons of additional light!

I'm always LSTing new branches, as well as vertical growth on previously LSTed branches.

It does not hurt the plant too much (sometimes i snap the branch at the node level a little, but it recovers very fast), and it is a simple and effective technique to harvest more bud!

Day 111 is a funny day of discoverings and sharing.

The very first trichs are forming on the node calyxes:

But the best thing of that day was giving away clones II and III, as a gift for a friend of mine (first time growing too).

Bye bye clones II and III, you're moving into a new house (even more sunny, and with a better soil too)!

On day 123 (early august) I discovered trichomes on the leaves near the buds, too!

They are definitely looking as they should, and I guess I may check them for harvest with my camera instead of buying a microscope.

Plant is blooming everywhere!

I can count 17 bud sites larger than 1cm (0.4 inches) - plus the main cola.
The above pic is from a side branch.

Today is day 125, and I felt it was time to start a growing journal.

Here's a shot of the main plant:

And the clone 1 I transplanted yesterday (day 42 for it, its roots were already 5 cm - 2 inches long)

Clone is already flowering, you can definitely see the pistills on it too!

I had to spray the clone with bifenthrin because I found aphids on it too (after finding some worms in the soil two weeks ago - dunno if there is any relationship between the happenings).

What to do next:
- transplant the mother in a bigger pot
- give away clone 1 as a gift for another friend
- wait for you to comment this journal ;)

Then:
- wait for harvest time!!
- drying and curing
- always hope for the best, and stay positive!
