New Ventilation Blueprint

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I have a current vent setup as follows:

Blue is cool, outside intake air.

Red is warm exhaust air.

The 1000W is in a air cooled hood, the 600W is not (yet). I know it is not best practice to cool my 1000W with room air.

While cleaning out my storage shed, I came across an identical 188 cfm inline fan as the one I already use, and was wondering if it would work as follows:

Basically, would a setup like this work?

Would I need to install backflow protection for the 125 connection into the 188 line?

The air flow is going to take the path of least resistance. You may need a stronger blower just before the carbon filter. It may not be a problem if the the duct size was sufficient. It looks good on paper provided you do not get into a back flow problem. What size is the ducting? Some people will under duct the system and wonder why they are not getting the performance they expected after they used reducers to connect the ducting to the blowers and filter.

I mainly use 4" ducting, as I should have noted.

The light hoods and the 188's all use 6"- 4" reducers. The 125 is a vortex with 4" holes.

Also, the blueprint is simplified for viewing, the exhaust from the lights come together at a "T" duct then go straight through the exhaust fan, so some "curves" in my blueprint are not curves at all.

Funny how I did all the math and made blueprints just like you did.. But it still failed (not bad.. But it did)

Here is the problem. You are using booster fans (I can tell by the cfm). I myself bought 2 hydro farms 6" in line booster fans. But due to the ducting resistance, it didnt suck air as fast as it should have. I would recommend the turbine fans for exhaust. If your room is sealed... The intake boosters will follow and kick butt!

My room is a 6x10 and 8ft tall. if the fans did as they said they would... I would COMPLETELY replace the air in the room every 4 mins. Thats not the case. Once I installed the turbine fan... It worked great & my babies loved it!

I also ran the intake into 4" pvc along the lower part of the walls, with 1/2 inch holes all pointed towards the plants. cold air under leaves helped a lot!

sorry -- im confused about the types of fans we're talking about here...

are you talking about high velocity fans

or the standard inline fans

i currently have the lower of the two trying to cool a 400 watt hps, and its not doing the best of jobs...im thinking about getting one of the top styles, and hoping that will help.

do you have to worry about the sound of the fan in your setup?

yes get the top picture ones to cool your lights.

also in your 2nd picture thats perfect except you don't need to run the light cooled hood duct thru the carbon filter... since they are sucking air from outside the room. just get two of the 4-6" fans in the top pic and run a passive intake.

Thats a great way to do it. Less restriction from duct bends, and no need to burn up the filter with air that doesnt need to be filtered. Good shit Hulk!
