Hash Plant in NFT system

When I transplant my clones from 1.5 inch rockwool into 3 inch baskets filled with Hydroton I can get roots long enough while cloning but will just a root or two be enough or would you need a bunch of roots hitting the bottom?

I'd get a bigger bunch of roots to be safe.

I wouldn't even use rockwool or hydroton if you can find 3" neoprene inserts. I take my clones out of my aerocloner and suspend them in a 3" pot with a 3" neoprene insert. I have a small aerotub that sprays directly on to the netpots. When the roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot I just pull the pots from the aerotub and drop them in to the NFT system. I don't disturb the roots one bit.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. Great looking set up.

No problem.....good luck.

(2) 600w HPS ducted to inline blower

Nice setup gohydro. For homemade that shit looks professional. Excellent job.

+rep for sure

Your plants are lookin great too. I love the deep green and not a hint of deficiency or burn anywhere.

Glad to hear you and loud are likin the H&G line. I must have lucked out cuz the guy at the local hydro recommended and it seems to be working good for me too. I did screw up in the beginning and didn't change the nutes for 3 weeks. I was dumb. I only had 6 clones in there for the first week and figured they couldn't have used up that much. Well, at the end of week 3 the six grapefruit that I added in week 2 got chlorosis bad. Don't know what the def was but they are still hurtin. Lesson learned.

Do you change your nutes every week? Don't the H&G instructions say every 2 weeks?

Thanks KS. Nope.....no deficiency's showing yet but I have a few weeks to go.

It isn't exactly home made since I own a mechanical/electrical contracting firm and have access to all the materials and tools to do it correctly.

I love H&G but this is my first grow using it. I do change once a week which is suggested by H&G. You never know though since their business is to sell product. 'm just following their online nutrient calculator.

Looks great man. If you have time do you think you could break down your setup into details, I know you posted pictures and kind of explained but I've been growing in soil for years and I want to start growing hydro. I'm interested in all of the different setups and I'm trying to determine which one is best for me. I'll be growing in a 2 and a half by 3' area under a 400 hordilux.

This system is a little expensive for someone new to hydro. I used only the top of the line parts (Reservoir, pump, schedule 40 PVC....etc) and it can be built much cheaper. The cost of the parts were in the neighborhood of $500.00. My recommendation would be for an aerotub which can be built for less than a hundred bucks, requires minimal tools to build, and produces fantastic results. I've built a lot of them and can offer some pointers....but not under this thread. Keep in mind you'll have the additional cost of test meters (PH & EC) when going hydro. If you're still interested feel free to PM me.
