I use Superthrive early on in the cycle, but I don't use it after the roots have established. No particular reason, though, other then I figured it was more or less a root stimulant. I really haven't done much research on it, though - JonnyBTreed sounds like he knows his shit.

I have also "heard" of Superthrive causing issues during flowering, but I've "heard" a lot of things. IDK, the explanations I read on why you shouldn't use it during flowering - something about making the plant focus on root growth and not flower growth - didn't pass my "common sense" test.

Whatever works...

well said. too many people say what they "hear" not what they try. It Breeds confusion.

The reason I was given not to use ST during flower was that it contained hormones, and it could threaten a female into becoming a hermie...that's what I heard.

I wonder if it makes tomatoes more seedy.

My RO filter is working, ran the damn thing all night long. Time to start the Jack berry. I'm planting 6 and hoping for at least two females. If I get 3 one will be a mother. If I get 6 I don't know what the hell I'm going to do. I was shooting for a 2 plant perpetual scrog.

Here is hoping for a purple pheno....check this out. Jack berry green and purple.

Dys,

I meant week 4 of flower in the FF feeding schedule...yes using cha ching now, before that beastie bloom, before that open sesame. I've been using distilled water straight out of the gallon.

My RO has been running for over an hour through at least 15 gallons and it's still pumping out PH 8.9...dunno what's up with that going to let it run a while longer. My PH meter is calibrated.

I've been so hesitant to add too many nutes fo fear of locking something out, I may have been starving them...I'll do a full res change tommorow with more cal-mag if necessary.

Mongobud,

I got up this morning, and my wife asked me
"what you going to do today"

and I answered

"I think I will jerk some males today"

You ought to see the look she gave me. LOL

Just starting with the Sannie Jack earlier this week. I have 4 popped seeds on the Sannie and plan on adding two more. Guess we will learn together! At one point in my seed search I wanted a Jack Herer and Sannie's rep and price sealed the deal. This grow is going to be known good breeders and a known great strain by me from past grows. Subcool's Pandora's Box ( 6 - expect 3 females), Sannie's Jack - (6 - expect 3 females) and Barney's Farm LSD ( 4 fem seeds).

What do you all think about this hermie business...don't use Superthrive or don't supercrop in flower or "OMG - I just opened the door when my plants were sleeping, will they turn hermie?" I've never had a plant turn (knock on wood, that would be a disaster in my current grow) and I beat the shit out of them. I'm not a breeder, but I sometimes think that breeders pass this shit around to cover for poor genetics. What do you think?

Never had one either (knock on wood also). Could be genetics in some cases or a touchy little strain that's right on the edge and willing to hermie at a moments notice. Some breeders have bad raps both deserved and undeserved and for whatever reason there will be a bad batch here and there. Not sure they know exactly what they are selling.

I was told that fem seeds also hermie easily due to their genetics. Which makes me nervous with my fem seeds.. But I think I agree with you for one simple reason, I've abused my bagseed girls to no end. and still, they grow. Now as soon as I PAY for seeds one doesn't pop, and the other never makes it out of the R/W. Now given, I had my part in their deaths but I can't get over how much heartier my Bagseed has been...

What did you try it with? I grew the fem LSD, cloned it twice and just have 4 seeds popped for this grow. Could be more suspectable depending on the method of femming by the breeder or some 4 way crosses.

I think My Blue Widow seeds were just OLD. they had that white look to the shell, not the Dark brown spotty look that some of the others did. I'm goin with Sour Cream Next, got it as a freebie, but not till I have this WW established...

I've been abusing the shit out of my fem AK48 from Nirvana. I have around 24 days to go and they are starting to fatten up pretty nice...the freakin sugar leaves are awesome already. I wonder how they may have turned out, had everything run smoother.

I just put (6) Jack Berry seeds in germ...expecting at least 2 fem's. Whats the best way to keep a mother? From seed or from clone? If I get 3 females, I'd like to keep one as a mother.
