first grow conditions so far: any feedback?

being a sativa, i'm a little unsure as to how long she has left... could be 11 weeks, could be 12... might even be 14...

What i do know is that your plants don't look very happy... they look overwatered. Also, you've overnuted a few times... this could also cause a lot of problems.

Before I bought an ec meter, I used to use the advanced nutrients guides for feeds. So it was fairly easy for me, although since getting the truncheon I have added at least 20% to my yields...

it's been a real problem trying to figure this out... i just don't understand what the problem is. it doesn't make sense to me that i've been overwatering, because they are always thoroughly dried out before i water... i hesitate to rule anything out, since i am new to this, but i really feel like i have a pretty good handle on my watering schedule. i do realize i over nuted, but only the slightest bit of nute burn showed up on one leaf on one plant, and i have only fed them plain water for some time now. i have been wondering if i should be giving them some nutes, and if so, fox farm big bloom, or something else. afterall, the medium is cocofiber, which has no nutes, and if they have 2 to 4+ weeks to go before harvest, they're never going to make it on stored energy of the leaves. I don't know anything about ec meters or truncheons that you mentioned, so i'll have to do some reading up on the subject. thanks a lot for your insight, skh!

please everyone, help me figure this out, i'm starting to get really worried

It could also be because you took the pic' straight after a watering. I've done that before and had somebody tell me they were overwatered.

If overwatering is a rule-out. Then I'd next have to plump for potassium deficiency... this will make your leaves curl down and the edges take on the appearance of nute burn.

well, i must admit i never thought i would see myself coming to this, but it seems as though i have nearly popped the cherry on this thing called cannabis cultivation.

many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, yellow leaves have succumbed to chlorosis. i fed and watered em with full strength ff gb nutes (1/2 cup per gal.)... gotta see if i can keep them going just a little longer. here's a link to a post i made as a plea for help with this- lots of great input from experienced growers- thanks everyone!: https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/33224-8th-wk-12-12-im.html

i don't know if it's possible for them to develop anymore since they are so naked... but at least the bud leaves are still green. i don't know if they'll be of enough help for the buds, though...

here are the girls in their bikinis.

not looking as impressive as i'd wanted, but hopefully they'll be a decent smoke. at least this means that soon, i get to try to avoid fucking up my somango and white widow. i wonder if i should ditch the coco fiber for the next grow, and go with some ocean forest soil or something...

If you ditch the coco to grow in soil you'll regret it. Soil has nowhere near the yield capabilities of coco.

Yellow leaves are also capable of taking in light... I'd still say you have a potassium def'.

It's difficult to tell from the pic' whether you have any brown hairs yet. either way, there's still at least a couple of weeks to go. It looks like there are no brown hairs from the pic'.

Have you got an ec meter?

i think you're right, i'll stick with coco at least until i learn how to use it...

there are many brown hairs- more on the smaller plant, minnie, and after a sample from each plant, the smaller seems closer to ripeness, but not ready yet- trichomes are cloudy on the calyxes, but the bud leaves are tending to be half clear at this point. the big girl, bertha, seems to be willing to take a good bit more time to develop, so hopefully you're right about the yellow leaves- a few more small ones have been falling off, but they seem to be fairly stable.

i didn't have time for a pic, but there is also something that looks like light burn on a couple bud leaves on minnie's colla right next to the cfls on the side, but they are at least 3 inches away right now... could have been damage i haven't seen if before now because of fan leaves that have fallen off.

they seem happy i fed them the other day though! i guess i need to pick up an ec meter, huh?

8 1/2 weeks flowering, and today was a landmark.

i walked in the front door of the house this afternoon, and.... uh.... wow. boy did it smell good... a little too good :-?

it had been creeping up the steps into the kitchen the past day or two, but that's in the back of the house. today- BANG- it's a grow op all of the sudden lol

so, i read up on video's cheap odor control in the faq, and set out to go shopping. my travels only encompassed home depot, and i couldn't find the needed supplies, but i found this other stuff, so we'll see how it works:

the gonzo odor eliminator :eyesmoke: ... i think it was like $6.95

just nailed it up right inside the garden door:

now, here are a few shots of bertha:

and now for minnie...

so this update marks the eve of the 9th week of flowering... just a quick update followed by lots of pics.

watered and fed the last of the fox farm big bloom last night, so i'll be making a shopping trip happen in a day or two.

the odor eliminator is working very well! still not perfect, but you don't smell it when you open the front door of the house anymore lol

here's some shots of bertha:

below is a look at a middle budding area in bertha... it seems like some of the calyxes are starting to swell- now i think i understand what people are talking about when they say the buds fatten up- this is what to look for- i guess it's just dawning on me now that the calyxes swell rather than more vegetation... does that sound logical? it's been hard for me to visualize the structure of a bud- pics and descriptions don't really do it justice until you grow your own and see it develop day by day. most of what i've read says that you see the most weight put on the plants in the last two weeks, and i wonder if seeing these couple calyxes start to swell signals the beginning of that period... sure wish i hadn't lost all those fan leaves just yet!

here's a closer look- they're definitely starting to plump up:

so, i took a clipping from bertha to have a look at the trichs under the rs scope, but there's good days and bad days for me when it comes to snapping pics that close... none of the scope shots came out well enough to merit posting, but i did discover something very interesting to me with a couple plain old super macro pics:

the leaf was being a nuisance to handle- so small and sticky, and before i got the shot above, i took one of the underside, and look what i found.....

i had no idea that the trichomes were forming under the leaves, too- pretty cool :blsmoke:

in general, the trichs are looking fairly cloudy on both plants, but there are MANY clear trichomes, and none are amber, so far as i can tell.

my guess is that skunkushybrid was dead on with his prediction of 11 or more weeks total for flowering- now that is a dude who knows weed

now, here are some shots of minnie:

here's one of minnie's lower buds- she has a good deal more red hairs than bertha, and both of them seem to have lots of white hairs- i guess that is good, because i suspect that when the hairs go brown, the calyxes will be about done swelling- but i suppose that could be unrelated, too, or dependent on the particular strain's characteristics...

if you take a close look at the pic below, you will see the bud sending up a new shoot of growth- this is showing up everywhere on both plants... hopefully these new shoots will fatten up some before harvest time:

here are a few super macro shots of the lower buds of minnie... i just thought they were kind of pretty to look at... just took a couple nice rips off the bong as i upload these, lol, so if things start getting weird, now you know why  keep in mind, if you can zoom in further on these shots on your computer (as is the case for all of the photos i've been posting in this journal) you'll see that they are still very hi res pics, so you can see them in even greater detail if you're just learning like i am... but then again, even if you're experienced, who could ever be tired of seeing pics of the source of our pursuits in ALL of this? lol, weirdness has ensued...

i love my camera :blsmoke: ... and my plants... and all of you out there!

happy day everyone :peace::peace:

thanks you guys, glad you like the pics... this first grow has been a great learning experience in a lot of ways.

here are just a few trich pics of a bud leaf from minnie- if i have time later i'll post some of bertha, and a couple full shot pics...

the trichomes are looking much cloudier over all... i think i spotted maybe one amber one, but lost it before i was able to snap a pic lol

here's a view of the same basic area shown above, that is a composite of two pics that were right next to each other. i put them together in photoshop... didn't come out that great, but it provides a slightly wider view. i'll experiment with it again another time:

there are still some clearish trichs hanging around... i'd say this leaf revealed about 75% cloudy and 25% clear trichomes... if the plants can't sustain themselves for much longer on the limited green foliage they have left, i hope these trichs indicate that i'll be pleased enough with the kind of high the buds will produce :blsmoke:

one more, just for fun, then it's off to work!

later taters...

I said around a year ago that I need to get a scope... do they sell them on ebay?
it was a good investment for $10... i just scanned ebay for my model, and i didn't see it, but there are some other 60x-100x pocket scopes in the same price range to be found on ebay- you should pick one up skunk!

here are a few pics of berthas trichs... definitely looking much more cloudy than the last time i looked at her closely like this!

i did find one obviously amber trich somewhere else on the leaf, but couldn't get a good shot of it, so here's just a little cluster:

there are still some areas that look clear, but it seems the stalks and balls are everywhere, and there are hardly any of the naked hairs i was finding before with clear liquid at the base, so things seem to be developing nicely here...

and as i always say, waste not want not...

when i get home late tonight, i have pics of the plants to post, and also my new line of nutes for the next grow, including my new nute meter :hump:

stay tuned.... :peace:

a lower bud on minnie... some of the curling bud leaves on her look just like the tendrils of an octopus to me... https://www.rollitup.org/toke-n-talk/33316-octopus-garden.html

the new tips that shot out of the tops of the buds have been sort of filling out... not much, but some noticeable development... they may only have a week left... god, who knows lol...

there you have it... that's the state of things as of the 10th week of flowering draws nigh, and i've finally finished my multi-post update and it's the next day already  ...since the starting of this post i've been a couple of hours away and back, and now i'm here on this forum again... the time has now come to hit the bong, and then i will display my new arsenal in yet another post... WHEEEEEEE lol

the ona block is working great, by the way- there isn't even a hint of odor in the house now- not bad for $7.95!
