so this update marks the eve of the 9th week of flowering... just a quick update followed by lots of pics.
watered and fed the last of the fox farm big bloom last night, so i'll be making a shopping trip happen in a day or two.
the odor eliminator is working very well! still not perfect, but you don't smell it when you open the front door of the house anymore lol
here's some shots of bertha:
below is a look at a middle budding area in bertha... it seems like some of the calyxes are starting to swell- now i think i understand what people are talking about when they say the buds fatten up-
this is what to look for- i guess it's just dawning on me now that the calyxes swell rather than more vegetation... does that sound logical? it's been hard for me to visualize the structure of a bud- pics and descriptions don't really do it justice until you grow your own and see it develop day by day. most of what i've read says that you see the most weight put on the plants in the last two weeks, and i wonder if seeing these couple calyxes start to swell signals the beginning of that period... sure wish i hadn't lost all those fan leaves just yet!
here's a closer look- they're definitely starting to plump up:
so, i took a clipping from bertha to have a look at the trichs under the rs scope, but there's good days and bad days for me when it comes to snapping pics that close... none of the scope shots came out well enough to merit posting, but i did discover something
very interesting to me with a couple plain old super macro pics:
the leaf was being a nuisance to handle- so small and sticky, and before i got the shot above, i took one of the underside, and look what i found.....
i had no idea that the trichomes were forming
under the leaves, too- pretty cool
in general, the trichs are looking fairly cloudy on both plants, but there are MANY clear trichomes, and none are amber, so far as i can tell.
my guess is that skunkushybrid was dead on with his prediction of 11 or more weeks total for flowering- now that is a dude who
knows weed
now, here are some shots of minnie:
here's one of minnie's lower buds- she has a good deal more red hairs than bertha, and both of them seem to have lots of white hairs- i guess that is good, because i suspect that when the hairs go brown, the calyxes will be about done swelling- but i suppose that could be unrelated, too, or dependent on the particular strain's characteristics...
if you take a close look at the pic below, you will see the bud sending up a new shoot of growth- this is showing up everywhere on both plants... hopefully these new shoots will fatten up some before harvest time:
here are a few super macro shots of the lower buds of minnie... i just thought they were kind of pretty to look at... just took a couple nice rips off the bong as i upload these, lol, so if things start getting weird, now you know why
keep in mind, if you can zoom in further on these shots on your computer (as is the case for all of the photos i've been posting in this journal) you'll see that they are still very hi res pics, so you can see them in even greater detail if you're just learning like i am... but then again, even if you're experienced, who could ever be tired of seeing pics of the source of our pursuits in ALL of this? lol, weirdness has ensued...
i love my camera
... and my plants... and all of you out there!
happy day everyone
