Welcome to my 5th grow, as usual it's an organic soil grow. Feel free to post replies/comments. I usually need feedback, big time.

Since I'm short on funds Attitude will have to wait awhile. This round is all from seeds I already have, and 2 clones from Grow #4. With any luck there will be 2 Blue Cheese clones, (they were just taken and aren't rooted yet) 1 California Hash, 2 Cheese, 2 Chiesel, 2 3 Toe, 2 Whiteberry, and one ? mystery bag seed. 12 in all.

They will start in little peat starter disks under 2 T5's in a closet in nice tall square pots. And finish up in 2-3? gal square pots under a 600w HPS Eye Hortilux, with a Lumatek dimmable ballast, in a 4x4 tent with a medium adjust-a-wing reflector.

Canna and BMO nutes will be used. Biovega, Rhizotonic, Cannazym, Flores, PK 13/14, and if I have the $ Boost or something else that's similar.

Water comes from the sky...haha, and lands in 2 rainwater barrels outside, (so it's free and clear of nasty toxins like chlorine and fluoride) I've never ph tested it, crazy right? maybe I'll get around to it sometime...

I've decided I'm not content with my soil setup right now, so I'm running a soil experiment with the veg stage of this grow while they are in the smaller pots. The best soil mix (if there is an obvious "best" at all) will be used for the entire grow after transplant to the big pots when they are almost ready to flower. I plan on vegging these for almost 2 months (I'm gunning for 15-18" before going into flower).

I've been using Canna's Bioterra in all of my grows so far, either cut with something or straight, and I don't like it straight...

There are 5 soil mixes I'm trying:

Mix #1 - straight Canna Bioterra plus

Mix #2 - 1" Cocodan Croutons on the bottom, then straight Foxfarms Ocean Forest.

Mix #3 - 1" Cocodan Croutons on the bottom, mostly Bioterra plus, with 2 double handfuls of Foxfarms Ocean Forest, and 3 good handfuls of Cocodan Croutons and worm castings.

Mix #4 - 1" Cocodan Croutons on the bottom, mostly Bioterra plus with 2 handfuls of Cocodan Croutons and worm castings.

Mix #5 - straight Cocodan Croutons

Blue Cheese clone #1 is in mix #3
Blue Cheese clone #2 is in mix #4
Cali Hash is in mix #4
Cheese #1 is in mix #2
Cheese #2 is in mix #5
Chiesel #1 is in mix #3
Chiesel #2 is in mix #2
3 Toe #1 is in mix #3
3 Toe #2 is in mix #2
? mystery bag seed is in mix #1
Whiteberry #1 is in mix #1
Whiteberry #2 is in mix #5

I know it's sacrilege to cut or mix Bioterra plus with anything, but I get too much water trapped at the bottom if I don't...pics when I've got something to photograph...

I've got the entire BMO line on the way, I've never used their "Grow It Green" before so that'll be interesting. I'll be using both Canna and BMO (alternating feedings). Donno if I'll use alot of the Foliar Harmony or not though...

Nice, like the strains you got goin. Looks like your a man with a plan, good luck with your grow.

Looks like the 2 Blue Cheese clones didn't make it...think I took them out of the water/Rhizotonic too soon and they didn't do well in soil. *sigh* I've replaced the first BC clone with a 2nd Cali Hash seed, (in soil mix #3) and the 2nd BC clone has been replaced with a Blue Hash seed (in soil mix #4). Both seeds are the result of hermies/pollinated plants in my last grow. Either almost everything in the last one either hermied or was knocked up by a BC male that I moved to another room. Oh well, now I've got lots of seeds. ? bag seed is up first and opening it's first set of leaves...

All seedlings are visible with a few working on their 2nd set of leaves already...except for both 3 Toe and Whiteberry #2...they haven't even popped yet. uh oh, no good.

I've replaced the 3 Toe with fresh seeds, I think all the seeds I got from the last mom were premature since they aren't very dark and don't have alot of spots and stripes, so I'll try again...I've replaced the Whiteberry #2 with another ? bag seed (in soil mix #5). So now there's only one WB.

Everyone is up now except for the 2nd 3 Toe, and the first 3 Toe to sprout is just breaking soil. I seem to be having major germination issues with that strain at the moment, so just replaced #2 with a Dutch Passion Blueberry tonight. It'll be soooo behind the rest of the grow, but I've got 2 rooms going so it's not a big deal.

Ok, I've finally got something to show: ? Bagseed #1, ? Bagseed #2, Blue Hash, California Hash #1, Cali Hash #2, Cheese #1, Cheese #2, Chiesel #1, Chiesel #2, and Whiteberry. The 3 Toe just came up, and obviously no sign of the Blueberry yet.

The girls got a first dose of nutes today, some Biovega, and Rhizotonic.

There's already a difference in growth among the soil mixes. So far the plants in Mixes #1 and #2 are the biggest. I also have to consider when they were planted and strain here though, which is why I tried to have 2 of almost every kind I'm growing.

DP Blueberry is up and open...the girls are getting 4-8ml of Canna's BioVega and about 10ml of Rhizotonic every 4-5 days, they also got some BMO SPT yesterday for good measure.

Ok, the plants in soil mix #5 (straight Cocodan) look so bad that I'm changing the experiment. They are both much smaller than everything planted with them, Cheese #2 has 2 crispy dead leaves and ? Bag Seed is all droopy and had mold growing on a small section of roots. Fuck growing in coco. Soil Mix #5 has been eliminated. Cheese #2 is now in soil mix #2 (1" Cocodan on the bottom, then straight Fox Farms Ocean Forest). ? Bag Seed #2 is now in soil mix #1 (straight BioTerra plus).

The little girls started getting Cannazym in their nutes today, probably could've introduced it earlier, but what the hell...the ones I transplanted look better already.

It would help if we had some measurements eh?

Just to refresh, soil mixes:
Mix #1 - straight BioTerra plus
Mix #2 - straight Foxfarms Ocean Forest w/1" Cocodan croutons on the bottom for drainage.
Mix #3 - BioTerra plus mixed with 2 huge handfuls of Foxfarms Ocean Forest, a few handfuls of Cocodan croutons, some worm castings, and 1" Cocodan on the bottom for drainage.
Mix #4 - BioTerra plus with a few handfuls of Cocodan, worm castings, and 1" cocodan on the bottom for drainage.
Mix #5 - straight Cocodan - was discontinued because the plants weren't happy at all, and is no longer part of the experiment.

Blueberry - 3.5" soil mix #2 started 11/30/09
Blue Hash - 6" soil mix #4 started 11/15/09
California Hash #1 - 6" soil mix #4 started 11/11/09
California Hash #2 - 5" soil mix #3 -started 11/15/09
Cheese #1 - 7" soil mix #2 started 11/11/09
Cheese #2 - 5" soil mix #2 (began in soil mix #5, transplanted on 12/7/09) started 11/11/09
Chiesel #1 - 7.5" soil mix #3 started 11/11/09
Chiesel #2 - 6.5" soil mix #2 started 11/11/09
3 Toe - 5.5" soil mix #3 started 11/17/09?
Whiteberry - 7" soil mix #1 started 11/11/09
? bag seed #1 - 7" soil mix #1 started 11/11/09
? bag seed #2 - 6.5". soil mix #1 (began in mix #5, transplanted on 12/7/09) started 11/17/09

Of the 2 transplants, the ? bag seed in soil mix #1 is much larger now than the Cheese in Mix #2, and the Cheese was planted 6 days earlier, but they are different strains. So far it's slightly obvious that the BioTerra is the best soil, just need to figure out what to cut it with so it doesn't hold water so long.

Measurements today:

Blueberry - 4"

Most of them only have 8-11" to go before flowering time...I wonder if they can make it in less than a month?

Measurements this morning...

Blueberry - 5.5"
Blue Hash - 7"
California Hash #1 - 7.5"
California Hash #2 - 6"
Cheese #1 - 9"
Cheese #2 - 6.5"

Chiesel #2 - 8.5"
3 Toe - 6.5"
Whiteberry - 8"
? bag seed #1 - 10"
? bag seed #2 - 8.5"

straight Cocodan or coco brick or coco in general, I read that they have a salt surplus when commercially sold that needs to be eliminated by soaking for a day or 2..then strained and squished of all moisture and possibly a second time.. then they are mint for growing !! Anyone else want to second this ???

Peace,
Bill (a future RI caregiver)

Pics! Grow closet, and a close up of the strain that looks like no other, (that I know of) that I've dubbed "3 Toe". This one looks like an actual 3 Toe, the one I've currently got in flowering in Grow #4 does not (I think it's the result of my last 3 Toe accidentally getting knocked up by a Blue Cheese or WB...). But check out the leaves on this one, weird right?

I'd dub it as Alien ......something.. as it looks like an alien footprint from many sci-fi flix that i've seen.

Is it that clean New England Factories producing air/water causing it, LOL !!??!! Chernobyl...

:peace:

Waiting impatiently for 3 Toe and Blueberry to grow big enough branches to clone, got the best peat plugs and some Clonex gel...I'm ready to go, want to keep these as moms. Girls should be going into flowering in the next 2 weeks, or whenever I can afford 3 bags of BioTerra...or 2 bags of BioTerra and 1 bag of FF Light Warrior.

Got a free sample of Organicare Seaplex the other day, so I gave the girls a dose of it along with their usual Biovega, Rhizotonic and Cannazym today. I think I'm about to see alternating nodes...
