i really like the idea of the vertical grows also. think i'll just do one tier, maybe 2, in my flower tent once these mothers are big enough to give me some perpetual love.....

I hate to sound critical of your floor plans wonder, but it's not the most efficient setup with those lighting.
See in the Cervantes video he clearly explained the disadvantages of vertical lighting, you know you lose like 40% I think or more of your spectrums by placing them vertically?
Now having said that.. a 1000W bulb has a very large spectrum range, I think more then enough to cover your whole garden if placed at a good distance with a good reflector (I would recommend a Winged Avenger).

Then place those two 400W vertically or even better in the corner of the room each in one corner and place the reflectors to shine directly on both sides of the canopy.
I think this should be the best setup which would give you maximum yield.

Hey BR. Thanks for the input. It keeps me on my toes and thinking. I see one problem with my setup for your plan.... my 400w MH's have to burn horizontally. I could always put the reflector the other way(still vertical) so the bulb was horizontal.

I am going to go look at for the video. I think If I had the proper air cooling etc, I could put this setup into a 5.5X5.5 X7, which I would think a 1000w would cover no problem alone. The flourescents are (2) 48" Flourescent 6 tube(32 watt per bulb) units. Each is swinging about 190 watts. And the (2) 400w MH with Full spectrum bulbs on top. Plants would be in a circle around the 1000w HPS, and 400ws, placed over the plants.....
Off for more research......

I was thinking shelves, but decided against that idea, to much work, and change, and commital to the vertical style. WIth this, I will be doing nothing different except setting 1 reflector aside for this.... If it gets hairy, I will tie the plant over and flower horizontally...... or just finish it out.... Im not to worried.......

Got in there last night and did a little more trimming of the lower growth. They all perked up and did some growing last night so I lifted the light by 2 links of chain. Do that every 2-3 days. Today they get water. Probably add a drop or 2 of Superthrive into the water... Flowering plants are looking good, I would probably cut them all if my plants in veg were twice as big....... The perpetual thing got way over my head. Maybe every month have a harvest, but not every 2 weeks.... Never got the routine down.
These plants are gonna be big. They are definitely gonna be at least 3 feet tall before flower, Flo's may be close to 4' if they go like this.....

Im wondering when will be the best time to transplant into 5 gallon buckets and 7 gallon smarts?

1. 10/2/ 09 Last run, right when I flipped to 12/12(Current run will be much bigger)
2. Flowering room
3. Clone Tray

Wow. My support group is already here......... This is gonna be a good one.......I have 3 weeks and change left for veg..... Any ideas?

1. Should I tie these girls out?
2. Transplant to the 5 gallons and smart pots? (Im leaning towards this if Im going to LST)

I just want them to get big fast so I am hesitant to LST or do anything just yet....
I need a support group and someone to guide me.This is my first grow... and I just don't want to screw this up...I don't want to go @ it alone !This plant deserves to have the best staff available...I need to get schooled ...please advise:leaf:
heres my album updated today

5 gal pots would be sufficient........

I just put fully rooted clones in rock wool cubes strait into 5 gallon pots filled with soil...... :D

It is All Always up to YOU! :) ;)...... but as far as I am concerned, I just don't have time to transplant into progressively larger pots all the time! I should have pics of it up in a few days......

scribed for sure wonder, there's gotta be room for me too! love the verticle light debate! how do you cool your lights, wonder, maybe i'm blind. looking great though, i like the array of differnet potting and different cloning methods. Wonder don't discriminate! that's what it's all about. hope this pans out for you, either way, vert or horz!

Lose 40% doing vert? Not if you have the right reflector ;) Or set up a stadium just right, or build/buy a rotogrow ;)

Hey TLD, How do you feel about the Light positioning ddiagram in the pics a page or 2 back?

The plants should be close to 4 feet tall with the bare bulb 1000w vertical in the middle of the cirle, a fan blowing directly on the bulb, the (2) 400w's in the Xttra Suns Positioned on top of the plants, and then those flourescent T8 panels right behind the plants for side lighting and to contain that light from the vertical 1000w in the center. I think its gonna be tits....... Best of both worlds like you said......

Thanks for coming by. Things should be getting good here soon. It will be slow for a bit. Im going vertical I think....... Yea its all about variety. I will probably pick my favorite methods and then make the next one better.

Wonderblunder already working magic...dude your set-up is already clean but i can't wait to see what you decide on. I'm not sure about the 40% thing, but I've heard a lot of different numbers for the loss due to vertical. I do think the 1000 W on top with two 400s in the corners was better than the 2 400s on top with a 1000 W in the middle. Whatever works for you, I'm definitely keeping track of this. Nice work dude +rep....

Thanks man. The 400ws are conversion bulbs and can't run vertical. I have seen some wild numbers with vertical. THe bulb is going to be in the center of a circle of 4 foot plants. with side lighting (essentially rear lighting in this case) and the top lighting. Take a look at the link to Oregon Med's grow where he pulled over 3 lb on 1k......... My goal is upped a bit to 16 ounces.......
