hey fdd thats a sick set up mate, count me in for the ride. how are you liking the digital ballasts, you notice much difference?
not really. they run quieter and are easier to move around. they look cool as well. but i think a ballast is a ballast, as long as it's a quality ballast. :joint::joint:

yeah i guess, meant to be easier on the bulbs, but that's not much of an issue for me right now... how do you mean run quieter... like a buzz or something? i've never really noticed, i just hear the fan. anyway merry christmas bro :peace:

In my opinion, this depends on your situation.... if you have a new, well wired house, it doesnt really matter what you're running, but in an ancient house like mine, I would opt for a digital ballast with a self contained surge protector....... my house is 102yrs old, as is the wiring, and i blew through 2bulbs in 6weeks with the original ballast i bought.... the digital lumatek i bought with the self contained ("safety shutoff" i think they called it) surge protector, has been running the same bulb for almost 3months.... the first 2, for 24hrs a day....

I'm (and I'm sure plenty of others ;) ) are still looking forward to your new pictures since you've topped and such...... I'll get off my butt and make a journal tonight if you will update yours..... tit for tat on Christmas??? :) bongsmilie

it's really kinda sad. my indoor grows have always been slow. my temps now range between 67 and 85. i water/feed when the soil is dry. they look great, and small. :-|

there were not topped or pinched. they were always small to begin with. this is the runt group, ... View attachment 660098

these were snipped of there tops, ... View attachment 660099

he did say that it includes 2 units (seperate houses basically) PLUS the rented growroom.... sounds a bit higher on rates than I pay here, but sounds about right... if you doubled my bill, and then added a grow, its only about 25% under what i pay.... normal...

at least you arent in Hawaii..... check out the power rates they have to pay there:shock:
Yah my electric must be cheap as hell then . . . .

2-8tube t5= 864w
1-400w HPS= 400w
2-1000w HPS= 2000w

Plus A/C in the summer, other equipment, and regular household use; stove ect . . . .

I'm expecting this next bill to be about $350 with the cold weather, includes gas.

What a scam the power companies pull! Penalized for being a good customer.

:leaf::peace::leaf:
THey dont care. When they do anything like build a new power plant they just raise the rates. Only way you can beat them is do solar panels. This tiered system sucks.

One easy solution to ease the coldness when the lights are off is to put some black barrels full of water in the room in the corners out of the way. They will adsorb heat during the light cycle time and release the heat when the lights are off.

we went on the CARE program. my bill for the past month was $350 at 18 of lights a day. pretty much got my bill cut in half. then i was shut down for a month in between grows so we got "bonus credits" for cutting our power usage. finally caught a break on my power bill.

i just found this all out. i knew we had gotten on the program but i was waiting to hear the results. turned out rather well.
